The Hunting Grounds

Dakota looked towards Silver, giving Bayne one last growl. She flicked her tail, then padded after Silver. Her wound was matted over with her blood and fur, but she felt ok. The female caught up to Silver, her tongue hanging leisurly out of her mouth.

At Mina's call, Karma slipped into the given opening, making sure her timing was perfect, and lunged for the bull's throat. At first, she missed the large target and had to sprint to escape impalement. At the next opening, she calculated and lunged, her canines connecting in the thick pelt. With a force amassed of all her strength, Karma crunched in the windpipe until she was almost choking with the blood. The small black femme backed away as the bull bled.

It took a moment to clear out her mouth, "Mina! You're crazy! You'll get impaled!" She lunged forward at the bull once more to notice the life slowly fading from its eyes. Her breath was coming in heavy and painfull gulps. The bull's antler hadn't impaled her, but it had left her with a few cute and bruises. Her twisted paw had an ache in it, but it wasn't bad enough to cause for her immediate concern, so the femme backed away from the slowly dying bull. "It still has life...be careful."

Sidestepping away from the elk, Mahina smirked slightly, staring at the elk as the color in his amber eyes faded. When his antlers came at her again, she stood on her hind legs, draping her front paws over the slow moving antlers and pushing down with all her weight.

Smiling, the femme watched the elk gasp for breath, his chest moving up and down, but not getting any air through his broken windpipe. And finally, after minutes, he took his final breath, in front of the two wolves. The femmora dipped her head at the elk, before looking to a sky, her grin never leaving her features. With a deep breath, the wolfess sent a howl of victory into the air, the soundwaves traveling all over the grasslands.

Dakota's ears perked as she was following Silver, her head turning. She looked back towards the hunting grounds, smelling Incendiu somewhere in the mess. The female spotted him, Zephyr having pinned him to the ground. She continued to study the pair, what was going on? A bitter pain from her wound pulled her away from the sight. She knew she needed herbs or her death would be sooner than she wished. Whatever Incendiu and Zephyr were fighting about, Incendiu could hold his own. Without a word, Dakota padded over to Silver. Her ears caught the faint howl of victory that Mahina had killed the bull.

Incendiu threw a short howl before his falling, the female's claws resting on his neck and stomach, two vital points for wolves. He breathed hard under her entire weight, a shocked look in his eye. He snarled at the black female, her words loud in his ear. "Well then," Hr growled. Pushing off his front legs, he thrust her backwards, then recovered from her drag marks across his skin. He backed up a considerable distance. He was a demon at sight, his fur splayed out, his eyes green flames. "What do you want then?" He growled.

With a relieved pant, Karma joined Mahina's howl. The other wolves were around, it was obvious from the noise. She awaited their arrival.

A victorious howl rang throughout the air and with that, Rune padded directly towards its source.
With a smile upon his muzzle, he nodded a both Mina and Karma for bringing the elk down.
"Ah, you guys make fine hunters...maybe you plan on changing ranks?" He called out playfully as he positioned himself upon the ground.

Mahina smiled at Rune slightly, looking at the dead elk at her paws. "I'm good as Delta." She said in a playful voice, laying on the dirt with a grunt of pain. Slowly, her gaze drifted to the scratch on her back, eyes narrowing slightly. With another slight grunt, she swore at the elk under her breath, then started licking the wound vigorously.

As she licked, the image of Bayne daring to threaten her lingered in her clouded thoughts, clear as blood on snow. He'll pay for what he did to this pack. I'll make sure of that. The promise to herself was what she meant, there was no way she'd let Bayne do anything to the pack again, even if the risk she might take was mind aching.

Karma grinned, "but then I wouldn't be your most favourite guard anymore!" she barked at him jokingly. Hunting wasn't her strongest point. Things larger than her and armed with antlers scared the female to death, but this accomplishment would definately make a mark in her life.

"I'm glad you both plan on keeping your ranks. It would be rather hard and quite bothersome if you just up and switched ranks on us." He added once more in a playful tone before lashing his tail out calmly behind him.

"Traitor, you think you can kill a beta?" He growled, anger coursing through him. He nodded and lunged to the female, grabbing onto her scruff, his claws aiming for the soft underbelly, virtually unprotected.

Tenebrae padded over to the now dead bull. His tail wagged happily, though he felt rather confounded that two females brought it down. "Well done," he called out.

(this feels rather lame, but whatever)

Mahina's ears perked and she stopped her licking, looking to where the source of the growls and snarling came from. With natural fear, her blue eyes widened, seeing one of her worst fears play out not to far away, where the rest of the elk herd was. "Be right back." The femme staggered to her feet, running clumsily towards Inc and Zephyr.

When she got to her location, she took action and sprang at Inc, trying to dislodge him off of Zephyr. "STOP! Both of you!" She snarled, eyes darting to each of the two wolves. "This is NO time to fight!"

Incendiu barked in pain as hot blood rolled down his leg, he tried ducking down to get the female, but her speed was great and she escaped. When she came again, he fought. They were in a brawling mass, ignoring their surrounding, too intent on killing each other to pay attention to anything else. For Incendiu, instinct took over, and only killing mattered.

Mahina snarled as she was ignored, pacing around to two wolves. Her ivories showed past her wrinkled muzzle, as she circled the wolves, getting closer each step. Finally, her blue eyes captured a perfect moment, the moment when every fight slowed for those few seconds. The femme used that to her vantage, lunging at her two packmates.

Using body weight, she reared onto her hind paws, bearing herself down right in between the two wolves, at the moment, she couldn't give the slightest care of she was injured, she just needed to stop the two, and fast.

Kira stopped and looked back, her eyes growing wide. She saw Inc and Zaphyr fighting with Mina jumping in between, surely this wouldn't end well. The beta sprinted towards the three of them and skidded to a halt. She waiting for the gap that Mina would surely create so she could restrain Zephyr or Incendiu.

Seeing Dakota lunging Bayne jumped back a bit & bared all his teeth this time, he then snarled back, "I have the right since I am biologically their father! And don't forget that! Don't think your little threatening tactics will scare me off, I've been in many more battles than you will ever be in." The longer piece of his fur was what Dakota managed to give a haircut to & in doing so revealed the scarred eye that was slightly glazed over, making Bayne partly blind. Standing his ground when they both walked away, then he slightly rose his ears when he heard Silver's message. Angrily he turned tail & went the opposite way, but keeping in the shadows so none of them would see him, the only thing he couldn't hide was his scent. 'I'll follow them back to the den site then, this isn't working as planned. If I follow them to the den perhaps I'll have better chance of seeing Rune or someone else. Besides, I hadn't intended to leave on purpose.' He stay hidden in the shadows while watching the whole pack converse over their kill.
[So I'll have Bayne follow the pack back to the den area or someone can catch his scent.]

As Rune lounged about near the dead elk a sudden scent caught his attention. It floated through the air so freely it would have been hard for anyone else to miss. However, it was not the smell by itself that worried him, but instead it was mixed with both Dakota's and Silver's. With one last look at the meal the pack would soon be tearing into Rune scrambled onto his feet and headed off.

(Bayne, Rune's surrogate father instincts were tingling. (Like Spiderman? =D)

Queens Eyes Shifted to Rune she walked to the Kill and layed down near it.. she panted and kept Watch she was Wary of Bayne in the area as she growled slighty she bared her fangs as she watched Nothing

Kira listened intently to Queen's words and growled slightly when she spoke of Bayne's return. But, she had better things to focus on. Her icy eyes watched Incendiu and Zephyr's every movements.
