The Pack Lands

Dakota nodded, "No problem. We could both use someone," she replied. The female flicked her tail, enjoying the sun and the compnay of Derek. Her gentle laugh filled the air when she realized that Queen was fishing, something quite odd.

Derek looked confused as she laughed, turning his gaze to follow hers he to huffed out a laugh. It was not often you saw a wolf trying to fish. It lightened his heart to see it.

Dakota looked away as Queen tripped, embarresed for the female's sake. She had done a good job catching the fish, but why didn't she just eat it? Whatever reason Queen had for showing off her fish, the female was making a quick fool of herself, especially with her clumsy disposition. Dakota rested her head on her paws, her scruff covering Derek's paw as well as her own.

Mahina shook her head, the dirt falling off and returning to it's place in the ground. The femme looked over her shoulder, seeing Soran struggle to get to the den. She couldn't help but smile as she stood up, her leg cradled below her stomach. With great experience, she picked her way over to Soran, coming to a stop beside him and nudging his shoulder. "Need some help?"

Derek nearly jumped up as Queen tripped but steadied himself and stayed sitting. He watched for a while long before realizing he had not finished the food Coats had brought him getting up and bringing back over to where he had been sitting he sat back down watched the river run as he ate.

Queen turned around and saw Derek he looked as if he nearly jumped she turned around walking to the kill that Dakota killed, she grabed a bit of meat and walked away to the bushed laying down she was right across the den site from Dakota and Derek and ate the meat

Dakota watched as Derek left to get food. This pleased her that he was eating. She rose to her paws, leaving Derek near the river. The huntress needed to run off some emotions. When out of site of the river, she ran through the trees. Each tree she passed, Dakota pushed herself to run faster. In a blur of speed, she did not see one branch that grazed her shoulder painfully, cutting it open. This caused her to slow, panting uncontrollably as she sat, feeling much better after releasing her anger.

"Need some help?"

Soran looked up in time to see his mate limping his way, “Help would be nice.” He replied, a smile tugging at his muzzle at the offer. His muscles tensed automatically as he rose and stood along side Mahina, leaning against her for some much needed support. “How’s your leg?” the male asked, careful not to brush up against the splint Silver had made. His thoughts were distracted however when the scent of freshly caught meat his attention. Dakota, or perhaps Queen had gone and made a kill for the pack. His stomach rumbled at the thought but was easily replaced by guilt. As the Lead Hunter, it was his place to hunt to keep the pack alive, but his paw prevented him from doing what he was expected.

Queen listened to the huntess who ran through the bush Queen ran after her with a confused face, she stoped seeing the Huntess she ran over slipping and falling infront of her she got up "Are you alright?" the Scholar, wanted to help// but she was new to the job and wasn't really good at Healing.. she frowned slightly

"Its fine." Mahina replied. "Lets see what Silver can do about that paw of yours" she paused, sniffing the air, the scent of a kill drifting around the air. She decided she would go get some of the kill once the two were back at the den.

Dakota saw that Queen had followed, rising to her paws to face her. "I'm fine, I was just running off some thoughts," she replied. The female shrugged off the pain in her shoulder, heading back to the kill she had made earlier. She called back to Queen,"Nice catch by the way, with that fish," a laugh escaping her muzzle. Inside, Dakota was angry about Incendiu's betrayal and her failure as a mother. The sight of Mina and Soran did not help sooth her troubled thoughts either.

Queen nodded to the wolf she walked off and said "Pfft," she smiled at the fae, "like to see you catch one!" she smiled adn walkd off towards the river she saw Derek and froze, she stared and perked one ear she walked over and she looked blancly, Tell him he doesn't have to answer she though "Uhh... uhhh.." she said.. trying to think of something she looked over her shoudler and smiled turning back "Are you feeling any better?" she asked remembering how he was down the other day

Derek looked up and smiled as Queen spoke to him. "Much." Unlike Dakota his fears and troubles had calmed much during their talk and he was once more the peaceful wolf he had been when he first joined the pack. His thoughts were no longer confused or black, but clear, he knew what he wanted.

Karma distracted herself while Derek and Dakota had their conversation. Before long, Queen had reapproached Derek. She heard him say that he was feeling better, and was glad to hear it. Now if the others that are down would lighten up she thought. They had hope, it was just a matter of grasping it. Looking to the sky, Karma wished desperately that Hektor were there to tell her what to do.

No. You need to solve this for yourself, Karma. She couldn't help but smile as she thought of exactly what he would say. The fey stretched out, thinking happy thoughts. She thought of the day her pups came out of the den, of their curiousity with the outside world. Then her thoughts drifted to her play fight with Derek. That didn't end so well, she thought, remembering how she had left the male alone. He probably thinks I hate him or something.

(Well, I seriously need to pick up in RP here!)

Karma could have leapt over the moon, she was so startled by this wolf's appearance. Turning to her, she caught that her name happened to be Dekona. "I - uh - erm" that went of for a while as the black fey tried to get a hold of what what going on.
"My name is Karma," she finally managed. "When did you get here?" she questioned, looking around. Surely she hadn't gone unnoticed this long! "And why are you here? Know that if you have any malevolent intentions, I will make it my duty to escort you away from the territory." She threw the last part out there as a precautionary measure. Karma may be small, but she was very convincing.

Maiara watched on as Queen went off to hunt, being interrupted and surpassed by Dakota who made the prey her own quickly and sufficiently. Once the huntress had made her kill, she saw the female go off to Derek, and comfort him, which made the Alphess breathe a quiet sigh of relief. With the male's recent return from his unknown journey away from the pack, and Queen's request weighing heavily on him, she had been worried for him. She sat for a moment, looking around her, watching events play out as if in a dream, the warm embrace of the sun's rays drying her soaked and bloodied pelt. The sharp pain in her side had settled momentarily into a steady throbbing, and she looked over the pack as Rune had instructed her, fading in and out of conversations. Queen fished, Derek and Dakota laughed heartily enjoying friendship's gift for healing, and a ways off, Soran and Mahina spoke words that didn't reach her ears from where she sat. Despite being surrounded by others she was quite alone at the moment, and having ascertained the pack's well being, she wandered slowly back to her spot beneath the birch, laying her head down on her paws, and enjoying the summer's soft breeze. Sunlight filtered through the verdant canopy, leaving dappled shadows on the ground that danced as the boughs gently swayed. Left with this lapse of empty time, Maiara allowed her thoughts to shift and turn like the gentle wind, her mind pausing first on one subject, then moving just as swiftly to the next. Presently she wondered how Rune was doing with the loners, and despite her ailments, she wished that she could be in his presence, lingering for a moment on a simple memory during which they had enjoyed a warm spring morning together...before being interrupted by loners. The thought brought a slight smile to her maw,
"It seems that we can't have a moment's peace without more strangers coming across us," she pondered with a light laugh which soon turned to her smile to grimace as her ribs protested with stabbing pain. With a sigh, she let the pain fade back into the background, and casting her gaze to the sky thoughtfully, she allowed her mind to wander again.

(Lamely catching up)

Derek smiled and bowed down with her, and prepared for her play attach.

Queen wagged her tail FINALLY!!! a voice inside her head shouted as she smiled "You take the first attack" she smiled and waged her tail in a frendly way

Dakota walked towards her deer kill, seeing Derek and Queen play-fighting. She grinned wildly, Queen was finally getting some attention and Derek seemed happy to give it. The female settled down beneath a large fir tree, letting the pain in her shoulder subside as she rested. She did not bother licking it clean, her fur was already stained anyway.

Soran slowed to a stop as the conversation that he had had earlier with Dakota bubbled up once more. "Mahina..." He began, looking at his mate with a serious expression. "Dakota asked me- us, to do something for her. It's about her pups." Why was this getting to be so hard for him to say as it had for her? The male shook his head and took a deep breath to fill his lungs before continuing; "She wants us to raise them. As we are her closest friends, she felt it would be best for them to be raised by two parents instead of one; and... I told her we would." The sound of small talk and play fighting made his ears perk, but he kept his gaze on the female beside him.
