She smiled at him she heard him say "Oh, I'm Kall," "What's your name?"
She answerd him "Oh, I'm Midnight. But most peopl call me Chayse"
She wagged her tail, she was exsited to see more wolves, unlike the ones she had saw earlier.
These wolves looked funnier, exsiting. She stuck her tounge out still smiling.

Kall was so caught up with this other wolf, Jack, that he had completely zoned out to everything around him.
More wolves!! Yay!
He hopped around the new wolf, completely excited for 'new friends'.
Maybe she'd play!!
He looked at Jack happily then back to Midnight, "That's a really pretty name? I like pretty names."

He sat down, tail wagging a mile a minute.
Today was the best day ever.

Kall gave a happy little bark in reply to Midnight.
She liked HIS name, too? he thought to himself.
That was really cool to Kall.

He sat his butt down on the ground, tail still wagging.
"So hey," he said happily, wiggling his butt in excitement, "Are we friends now? I don't have a lot of friends."

She stared at her feet "M-me nether...." She didn't know why but she got a cold chill and another unpredidted action was that she rubbed up against Kall for warmth. It was a hot summer and she kept getting cold chill. She just ignored it. She laid down and started to licking her paw.

Kall stared at Midnight as she rubbed against her.
It was a nice feeling and he licked it a lot, panting happily.
Did she wanna play?
He'd never really been this close to many wolves before and wasn't quite sure how to act around them.
But he hoped he was doing alright.
Well at least no one had hurt him or run away from him yet. And that was something.

When she laid down, Kall wiggled his butt again and laid down next to her.
He remembered something his other friend, Ever, had talked with him about and he wanted to share it with his new friend here.
"Hey lookit," he said, pointing his nose towards the sky, more specifically the clouds, "Aren't they cool? Pretty white birdies."

Kall thought she had said something and looked over at her in question.
He thought he heard the word 'birdies' and that made him brighten up. She liked the birdies?
He wagged his tail happily then stood as she got up and hopped out.

Giving a soft but playful growl, he jumped after her.
He had no idea who this gingerbread man was, but he was sure going to catch it.

She stops dead in her tracks when she sees a blue jay, perched right on the ground.
As she snuck up behind it, she didn't make a sound. She punced her paws pinning the wings down. She howled out as loud as she could "I DID IT! I CAUGHT A BIRDIE!" She had her mouth wide open in exsitment as she continued to howl in happyness and excitment

Sand was not impressed she was happy she caught a bird it had always been her dream. He came back to the point he looked at the wolf and said midnight the wolf is still there. It was odd how him and midnight got distracted so easily. he lay in the grass rolling like a pup. loved rolling in grass it was just so fun

She just ignored him and rolled on her back playing with the birdie. She then got up letting the birdie fly off, she smiled at him. And continued to to talk to Kall and Jack.
She scratched her ear with her back paw. She yawned tired, as she layed down beside sand and tryed to stay awake.

Kall nearly jumped for joy as Midnight had caught a bird that easily.
In all his life of trying to catch one he could never seem to do it. He tried and tried and tried again but he always failed.
Maybe he was just always TOO excited and scared them away before he ever got the chance to get one.

He looked over at her wolf friend (Sand) and was about to ask him his name, remembering he hadn't asked yet, but then got quickly distracted as Midnight let the bird free.
He watched it soar up into the sky and stamped his feet a little in wonder, just itching to catch his own soon.
It was so cool how they could fly like that.
How come wolves don't fly? he suddenly wondered.

Without an answer to give himself, he trotted back towards his first friend (Jack) and wagged his tail happily in some sort of friendly greeting.
He looked from him to Sand to Midnight.
"You guys are my bestest buddies," he said cheerfully.

She smiled and said to Kall "Hey...would you like me to teach you guys how to catch a bird...?" She smiled awaiting his answer, cause just by his face when she had cought one she knew he probly did want to catch one. She spotted another bluejay on the ground facing away from them.

Kall looked back at Midnight and barked a loud, "Oh yes please!"
He wanted to learn how to catch a birdie real badly. There were so cool and mysterious and he couldn't wait for the chance to finally feel one under his paws.
"Yes I'd love to," he said again.

She stood there wondering if he would be able to catch it or not.

Evergreen Forest - Page 13 Empty Re: Evergreen Forest

Post by Calico Jackie September 3rd 2012, 4:48 pm

I managed to catch a break, seeing as I have a three-day weekend. My posts will be much less frequent than before due to blasted school. I think my history teacher is actually a harpy bent on stealing my soul through pages upon pages of assignments.

“Sounds like a good tale to explain pack life... We’re strong on our own, but we each have limits. Together, there’s little we can’t do. It was a lovely story Jackie, thank you for sharing"

Before she could stop herself, a cynical huff of air escaped the red wolf's maw. The notion of pack life had yet to sink into her thick skull. A year ago, she would have sooner thottled any wolf who asked her for a story than comply with their request. A second huff -a derisive snort- was covered with a cough. How the mighty have fallen, she wanted to sneer. However, the scholar at her side seemed to have thoroughly enjoyed the tale. She had, after all, tripped several times throughout, much to the yarn spinner's amusement. Rather than snort contemptously again, the rogue stifled her go-to response and forced her lips to curl into an almost amicable smile. " 'Tain't no matter, miss," replied the fae, dipping her head in what could pass as a humble manner. "An ol' yarn such as that is nothin' without a set of candid ears t' bedeck. Ya made a fine audience," she added in a sing-song tone. Inside, her mind was still reeling with the notion that she had actually engaged in such a social nicety. Blasted pack wolves an' their charity, makin' me all soft. The snort could not be smothered.

As the Scholar turned to the third member of their little exploration party, a distant, high-pitched sound made the rogue pause. Jackie's ears stiffened immediately at the familiar tone of voice. "Vixenette?" The name was spoken in a quiet whisper of a question. Echoes of the howl still reverberated across the landscape, carrying notes of finality and farewell. Needless to say, those concepts troubled the red wolf deeply. She had only just found her old crewmate after believing the coy-wolf dead for nearly a year. They were two very different characters, obviously, yet Liafi was perhaps the only wolf Jackie felt no guilt over depending on, no bitterness over helping out, and, she now realized, no hesitation in calling her 'best mate'. It was true. The notion made her stop all forward motion and simply stand still with ears swiveled in the direction of the howl, mouth slightly agape, and eyes staring into some far-away place only visible to her. She remained like so for exactly five beats before raising her muzzle skyward. The red-wolf's howl was rough at first, yet evened out into a low baritone. Her message was simple: Fair winds and following seas. It was a traditional maritime parting-of-ways blessing, one that carried a request for both a safe and swift journey. Calico let the note peter out completely before letting her head drop.

She sensed the coy-wolf meant to make haste with her course and did not call out again. The decision was final, after all, and she was not one to challenge fate, only cheat it. Her eyes remained unseeing for another three beats; right then, Jackie huffed a brief sigh and flicked her tail once, as if batting at some nuisance. With a dismissive shrug of her square shoulders, the Guardian resumed her pace. It would be of no use to dwell on this event nor ask questions which would receive no answer. For a reason only Liafi was privy to, she had set out and left the territory. The red wolf could only tell herself it didn't trouble her so and try to think of other things, yet it was an exercise in futility. Each had impacted the other's life in a way that would not be fobbed off as soon as Jackie would like. These feelings of attachment were beginning to annoy her now, especially in regards to the wolves that now surrounded her. Tracked 'em down, ya did, her inner voice reminded. O'er plains, rivers, forests, even up that godforsaken mountain- in the snow! -no less. Why? Jackie did not want to recognize the answer; she refused. It was simply not possible. The only reasonable explanation was preposterous, and yet it was true. She fought herself to end this train of thought as it would only cause more turmoil, but, like most everyone else, her inner voice was the opposition. The lion is a proud creature, yet even the king of the animals needs a kindly shepherd. Calico muttered several oaths.

With a sudden start, she noticed her musings had caused her to fall several yards behind. She shook her head vigorously in an effort to clear her mind. Those troubling truths her consciousness insisted on confronting her with were bottled up and cast into the ocean. In a few bounds, Jackie was back beside the Scholar. She resumed her previous gaiety with an almost Herculean effort. "Don't mind me," she chuckled, "simply answerin' the wind, is all." Her smile, like the others, was forced; her chuckle was dry and airy, yet it was all she could manage then. Good, good, play on their pity again. See what good it did ya the first time. Her eyes turned murderous.

Derek smiled, it felt good, to just let it take over as the little female Linnea seemed to bask in the embarrassment. He had not always been like he had, he had once been a good natured humorous male. He had made jokes and his laugh would echo through the forest, he wished he could be different, but none of these wolves could be allowed too close.

Right?

Maybe he could let one in? Maybe have a friend he could talk to? It couldn't hurt, it may even relieve him of the flashbacks, if just for a while. He had to try something, and it seemed that his alpha female was more then willing to be his friend, for that is all he wanted. Sure she was pretty and all, but she was no Palla, and his heart would always belong to his beloved deceased mate. As he walked beside Linnea, a new scent came to him, one the wolf beside him was obviously following. He figured it was just another loner, but for some reason the scent was very familiar, almost hauntingly so.

ahead of him Linnea stopped obviously the loner was ahead of the both of them, determined the male walked past his alpha and stopped in his tracks, could it be? Was it possible, but she had died, had she not? "Karma?

Kall listened to her instructions and followed them as best he could.
He slowly crept up to a small bird on the ground as she said, got into a position to pounce, then sprang and slammed his paws down at it.

The bird was rather quick, but Kall was just a bit quicker.
He pinned the bird down and got so excited over the fact that he did that he let his paws slip and watched the bird escape, flying up and away in a fright.
Well it got away, but at least he caught it.
He sat down to watch it disappear, his tail thumping happily on the ground.
"I.. I did it!" he exclaimed.

"Karma?"

Bedraggled and hungry, the dark female looked to the two wolves that had approached. One was khaki, and the other was painfully familiar. Halting, the female panted. Her paled gaze swept over Derek. He was not as proud as he had once been, but he was still handsome as ever.

Making an effort to regain her breath, Karma looked to the ground. How did she respond to this? Yes, she had come back to Banishing Winds, but they had throught that she was dead. As much as she hated to admit it, she would be dead, if it weren't for the humans. They had saved her. That fact was still something that she had troubles coming to terms with it. "Derek?" she tried uncertainly. Of course it was him, because who else would it be?

Turning her exhausted gaze to the khaki female, Karma dipped her head. Surely she was another member of the pack. "Greetings," she wheezed. Her tummy gave a loud gargle, and her ears burned with her embarrassment. As much as the female had changed, she had remained mostly the same. She loved food as much as ever, and with the humans feeding her fresh meat, she had lost much of her skill in hunting. Stilly she had learned much while in their hands. Herbs were things she now knew and could use to help others. She was still light on her feet, even with exhaustion and dehydration creeping through her bones.

The two looked comfortable together, leaving Karma to wonder at the status of their relationship. She blinked slowly, panting heavily. The run had taken a lot out of her, but at least breathing was easier than it had been when she had first come to a halt.

Evergreen Forest - Page 13 Jack10

Jack watched the wolves with a blank and bored expression. Bird hunting? These wolves were so simple minded... Leaving them, he set off once again through the forest. He'd wanted to have a little fun in this pack, but if they were all so focused on such silly things it wouldn't give him any pride or joy when he upset them. He was somewhat disappointed.

Almost bored. He wandered through the trees absently, without many a care really. He'd eaten recently, he'd just come here for a little entertainment. He supposed he'd be on his way...

Through the trees, though, he heard murmurs of conversation. It wasn't really a conversation yet. There were just a few stunned words exchanged so far. Deciding he'd try and join this pack again, if only for a bit of fun, he slipped through the trees towards the sounds. He was silent, and he kept to the slightly better lit parts of the forest so his golden fur blended in with the wood. He had mastered the art of secrecy, and was virtually invisible. Finding three wolves in a bit of a standoff, he settled down for the show.

Two were female, one was male. There was a black female who looked quite ragged in his opinion, as well as a sort of unfortunate looking male. The poor fellow had an ugly brown coat, nothing like his own luxurious gold. The other female had curious markings on her face, but other than that seemed quite normal.

Interested by the reaction the two who smelt like the lands would have with the ragged female, he watched intently.

(I like this character more and more xD)

Kall's tail swished happily around. He was so proud of himself for catching his bird. It made him the happiest he could be right now.
He looked to Midnight and Sand for acknowledgement then noticed Jack was leaving.
He whimpered a little, sadly.
Did he scare off one of his friends? Wolves and other animals were always doing that around him and it made him sad every time.

He pouted a little, staring down at his paws in shame, when Midnight asked him a question.
"What're we gonna do?" he asked back, "Hmm.. I dunno. We should go look for some other wolves!"
He nodded happily at that thought and looked to Sand to see if it was okay with him.
He looked back to the direction Jack went and tilted his head to the side, "Do you think he's going to find wolves? Does he want us to follow?"

Evergreen Forest - Page 13 Falco-1

Falco had been finishing his meal when he saw Linnea, and Derek, and a third wolf that looked familiar. One that he had to dig back into his mind for. Licking his lips clean, Falco got up to his paws, the fores remaining bloodstained for now. His ears flicked as he padded across to the group, his hind legs stiff from the long time of laying down.

As he approched he tried to think of who the she-wolf was, it was black, his ears flicked. Was he seeing a ghost? His heart rate sped up. What... He was sure. This wolf he had seen dead before his eyes. No. It couldn't be. Karma? Was it really her? Falco was sure that the female had been deceased. What was going on? Was it a dream?

"Karma?"

It was. Karma. His ears flicked to Derek as he was now up alongside the male. Falco's head tilted. "Karma is that really you? ... But... You were...." Falco gulped. "dead"

"Karma?"
"Derek? Greetings,"
"Karma is that really you? ... But... You were.... dead"

"Greetings!" The khaki wolf noted cheerfully in reply, looking about to the two males around her. It seemed they all knew this female. Content with that, she was quite comfortable with offering some of her trust without really worrying about such. She did, however, raise her tail only the slightest measure, in quiet question for the males to allow her to speak. It wasn't her being overly dominating, she simply knew this was now a confusing position already for these three and she did not want any rushed conversations to split forth. Smiling lightly to the two males, she continued her own greeting to the dark female, giving a few steps towards her in order to be able to judge the female closer. She was skinny, but seemed otherwise healthy, other than being in need of a hearty meal soon. Linnëa flicked her tail, and then dipped her muzzle towards the ground, noting with her body language that not only was she not to be a threat, but in a silent "hello" as well.

Just when she began to open her mouth to reply once more, the dark female's stomach seemed to roar in protest. She stopped, and picked up her head from it's already raised position, giving her a curious look. She needed food soon, and rest. Flicking her ears slightly, she took note that the river was quite near still. They could speak, and walk there, so that this wolf could get the rest and sustenance she so desperately seemed to need. Taking another few steps forward, she actually spoke this time, giving a kind smile beforehand. She wanted the tired female that seemed to have been a member before; a well known one at that; to be comfortable as possible.

"I'm Linnëa, alphess of the Banishing Winds," She began, looking to the males beside and behind her for a quiet moment before continuing. "It seems my Lead Guardian and Delta know you- welcome back, I presume would be more fitting as a greeting." A light smile began to play on her face. "I see you are hungry, and tired.. There is a river near that is plentiful with fish. If you shall follow, we can discuss this on our way there. " She finished her statement, for now. Though she figured the female was safe enough, being weak, hungry, and tired, she wanted to speak with her to find her true intentions before offering to fish for the wolf. Of course, she still had plenty energy to spare, so fishing for a wolf that seemed to need it would be no chore at all. And then, the female could rest, and the males could catch up with her if they so wished. The fact that apparently they thought her dead both concerned and intrigued her. She would have to ask what had happened herself- if this wolf had some sort of health issue Linnëa needed to know of, then she would like to be updated so she could make sure the fae was accommodated. Properly. And, in addition, how did this female escape death, the very thing so many others succumbed to. Ready to set off at this point, she decided now it was time to walk. Linnëa was glad the river was only a few minutes off, it would give ample time to speak, without tiring this female, Karma, more than what was needed. Smiling invitingly, Linnëa turned to the side, pointing her head once in the direction she would set off and beckoning the dark colored fae to walk astride her.
(Kind of lame.. But I'm feeling somewhat better.)
