As the snow falls (Roleplay Event)

Silent flakes fell from some endless reservoir in the sky. It was a beautiful sight to say the least; the molecules of frozen water were coming down fast and settling upon the ground without any fuss. Gale looked up towards the sky and took note of the yellow-tinted clouds. This flurry of snow was here to stay for quite some time. To be honest, he was glad that it was occurring. Mother Nature was lending her power to quiet all sounds and to grant some beauty into the previously dull world that stood between autumn and a full fledged winter.

There was no hiding the small smile that grew on the Wanderer's face. Even though he had been cold to others of late, he found himself slightly opening up on this chilly winter day. With paw steps that barely made sound, the warrior started to trek towards a hill. He wanted a vantage point that would grant him the ability to see the forest from above; giving him the power to scan the territory and to watch the snow as it fluttered down.

A beautiful crystalline figure drifted from the heavens above and landed gently on Zenith's nose. Too caught up in her fascination with the masterpiece, she allowed the other wolves to stroll far ahead. It melted gradually, soon replaced by another. And another. Zenith scanned the tremendous eyes of Mother Nature, as frozen tears embraced the earth. Wow... The territory will be rather different with it's white coat on. But beautiful all the same, she thought, smiling, as she turned to the others. Only, they were no longer there. So enveloped was she in rejoicing in the splendor of the earth, that she was now lost, and alone... Or was she?

Blake lifted her head as the precipitation surrounded her paws and the cold tickled her nose. She enjoyed the frosty weather, for it was quite fun to play in if someone was there to play with you. She turned her head looking around for her target and spotted the wanderer that she had recently raced against. She padded up slowly behind him, and then when she was only a few feet away, used her paws to fling some snow at him, hitting him on the back.

Kali shivered, pulling her ears back against her skull as she frowned at the white ground. It felt odd underneath her paws...what was this white stuff falling from the sky? She did a small hop with her hind legs, not liking the odd crunchy feeling nor the cold on her paw pads. Lowering her muzzle to the ground, she smelled the white powder as she moved her ears forward once more. Smelling nothing of interest she snorted and pulled back, not impressed with this land. Too many tricks for her, first the shivering cold and now this white powder. Though, it was interesting...

Lowering her nose down once more, she stuck her tongue out and curiously licked the ground delicately. Pulling her tongue back in, she shivered once more as her mouth instantly became cold. It tasted strange as it melted on her tongue, almost like...water? Could it be? Kali was amused now, licking the ground softly to try out this new "food" item. It would be so much easier to get a drink around here if all she could do was lick the ground; seemed simple enough.

Kali was mid-way through her interesting snack when a voice came from nearby. Looking up and freezing as if she were caught doing something bad, Kali noticed it was the wolf who she first met, Annessa. Kali nonchalantly finished her last taste of the weird form of water before sucking her tongue back into her mouth, gulping down whatever she managed to get on her tongue. She looked around without moving her head, her ears twitching ever so slightly wondering if others were watching. She felt strange enough in this land, it was new to her afterall, so she only hoped she didn't look to odd. "I was just testing something" she explained, knowing how weird she must have looked trying out this new substance. "I suppose you've tried it before?" she asked suddenly, pointing her muzzle down towards the white powder that had littered the land.

Kali laughed slightly, amused at the thought of pups playing around in and trying to eat the white powder. Hearing her question, she tilted her head and looked at the wolf as if she were crazy. "Snow?" she repeated, testing the new word, "Is that what this is? What is...snow?" Kali was curious now, lowering her muzzle to the ground and nudging some of the "snow" around with her nose. She felt so uneducated about this place...she probably sounded hilarious seeing as she didn't know what "snow" was. "It's so cold here" she said after a moment, lifting her head once more to look at Annessa. "I guess it's why wolves have such long, fluffy fur...guess I'll have to try and get use to this place" she said, a gently laugh escaping her lips. It was true, she found this place to be very cold, definitely not what she was use to. Kali did like it here though, it had a strange feeling to it but it was something she'd endure.

Kali looked at the white powder in awe...it was rain, but frozen. How amazing! This place seemed filled with magic, no wonder these wolves called it home. Kali flicked her tail, starting to feel the cold through her fur as she shivered once more. "I prefer the sun...where I came from, it was only nice and warm" she said, looking up into the sky as if the sun would magically shine down on her. She sighed gently, watching her breath show up in front of her. This was crazy...she wondered if magic like this happened around here often. Seeing Annessa just fall over, Kali watched her rolling around in the snow. She didn't want to get dirty, no matter how inviting it seemed to roll around in something so magical.

Kali tilted her head as she watched Annessa roll to her side. "Yeah...it was nice. I have rather short fur which helps keep me cooler in the warm weather" she chuckled, sitting down by Annessa. "I'm kind of hoping this place gets warmer" she replied looking around the snowy landscape. It was pretty, no doubt, but the warmth of the sun overcame her thoughts. She looked at the sky for a moment once again, then felt a splash of coldness on her as she was lightl dusted in snow. "...Hey!" she said in shock, leaping up with a snort. Kali shook her coat to try and get rid of the extra coldness, but then pounced lightly on Annessa, putting her cold paws on her shoulder as she wagged her tail slighty.

Annessa laughed at Kali's reaction, but was cut short by a feeling of pressure on her shoulder as the other female pounced on her. "Hey now! That's hardly fair!" She said, though she was still amused by it all, and she deserved it anyway. She definitely did not regret speaking with the spotted canine. Annessa squirmed, trying to free herself from Kali's grasp.

Kali couldn't help but laugh with Annessa, her lauhter was too contagious. She hadn't laughed this much for a while...it was nice to finally relax instead of being freaked out by every new noise. She wagged her tail vigorously, now pawing at Annessa's ear with one of her paws. The feeling of her fur was quite different than what she was use to...wolf fur was quite soft. She wondered how it would feel being a fluffy being like Annessa, but at the same time she liked her own fur. "Ahahaha! Who said anything about playing fair?" she laughed with a smirk on her face, watching the canid squirm under her paw.

Annessa shook her head as the other female started to paw at her ears. She giggled at Kali's "question". "Good point. It's still not fair though!" Her tail thumped against the ground in mock anger, spraying up snow every time it rose. She stopped struggling, thinking that maybe Kali would get bored of holding her down if she stopped making it fun for her.

Kali just laughed and continued to paw at her ears, enjoying herself now that she had a friend. Perhaps life here wouldn't be so bad now that she knew someone. Noticing Annessa's tail thumping against the ground with snow spraying at her, she tried moving a bit, bt it was hard to ignore the feeling of snow between her hind paw pads, it felt weird and cold. She pounced away suddenly, lowering her front half as she play bowed with her tail wagging quickly. "Says you" Kali replied with a grin, "Fair fights aren't as fun". With that she pounced forward slightly, starting to enjoy the snow and how, each time she moved, some would fly up into the air.

Upon being released, Annessa quickly jumped back to her feet and grinned at Kali. "Another good point," she said. She took a couple steps back in surprise as the other female made another pounce forward. "You're not catching me that easily again!" she laughed, stepping back further. It seemed she had succeeded in making the newer pack member enjoy the snow, and it making another friend. Snow and pack life was so much more enjoyable when you had a friend to enjoy it with. Her tail started wagging again, and she looked at Kali like she was daring the multicoloured female to come after her.

Kali laughed, a large smile on her face. She was a runner by heart, loving the feeling of the wind through her fur and pushing herself to strive for her goal, whether she's on a hunt or just playing around. Kali noticed Annessa looking at her, so she continued to wag her tail as a friendly gesture. Pawing at the snow a bit before setting her paw down, Kali lowered herself to the ground and took a few slow steps towards Annessa. With a sudden hop, Kali lunged forward towards the canid, trying to watch her steps but at the same time trying to go quickly. She was careful with her first few steps so she wouldn't loose her footing, and knew Annessa had the home advantage, but she figured she'd be able to catch her friend, or at least try to.

Soran's jaws snapped at the hoof of the bull he had been pursuing out and around the territory. He knew it would take at least three wolves to bring it down, to do so alone would be a death wish, but he could still feign interest and hunger if it so suited him. The elk, perhaps growing tired of the game, turned and stamped it's hooves in the snow as though it had won a great battle before lowering its branched antlers and leaping around Soran, returning to where its herd grazed silently beside the creek.

Turning away from the herd, Soran made his way back to the den, his footfalls hushed by the white blanket that coated the territory. Away from the cover of the tall, brown grasses of the Hunting Grounds, the hunter would be easily spotted should he decide to attack. The best plan of action was to lay a trap, though he needed help if he was to feed the growing pack in preparation for the less forgiving days of Winter.

Entering the tree line, and passing into the clearing where common gatherings were held, Soran noticed the multi-colored female from a while ago, Kali; and beside her, the female who's name Soran only knew in passing. Both appeared wrapped up in whatever game they had created, and the male felt it rude to interrupt. Instead he turned and sat beneath the wide nettle branches of an evergreen, one of the few things in the territory that broke the blinding whiteness of the snow aside from the various pelts of wolves that dotted the territory.

Kali had started to run at Annessa, wasting no time to close the distance between them. Halfway through her first few steps she felt strange, as if they were being watched. This feeling made her stop rather suddenly, slightly curious as to who or what was watching them. She turned her head to where her nose detected a scent that was not her own nor Annessa's. To her surprise, there was a male wolf nearby who seemed to be watching their playful antics. Kali paused and studied him for a moment, noticing his scent was well merged with the general pack scent, meaning he's been here for a while. She tilted her head, now curious why he was watching them, or if he was even doing that. For all she knew, he could be just sitting there and enjoying his own company, though he looked rather lonely. She turned to look at Annessa, wondering if she noticed the male yet, or if she was thinking the same questions she was.

Zenith watched as the odd-looking newcomer, previously welcomed to the pack, gleefully played with another female in the newly fallen snow. I wonder if they will accept me as willingly? Her thoughts were interrupted, as the large male she had seen leaving the presence of the pack earlier settled to look on at the same scene. Zenith tentatively placed one paw in front of the other, silently moving towards the muscular specimen. It was now or never. She had decided. Just as the male sat beneath a large evergreen, the patched canid paused to look at him. Rats, there goes my chance! However, Zenith had noticed that the canine did not appear afraid. Perhaps it meant that the male was approachable. Zenith smirked. On the upside, they weren't aware of MY presence. As the patched female turned to look at her playtime companion, Zenith advanced towards the male. "Hello there. Please understand that I mean no harm to you, or the pack," she said, as she lowered her body to mirror her speech and intentions.

Annessa darted away in the opposite direction of Kali as she started to chase her. She ran with ease, her paws easily stepping through the snow, which thankfully wasn't quite deep enough to slow her down. She did slow, however, when she caught the scent of another wolf, a male. She stopped and turned to look at Soran, then back at Kali, who had also stopped. The white female briefly thought about saying hello to the male, but then she noticed a stranger approach him, and figured it'd be best to leave him to deal with the newcomer. Deciding that that didn't have to ruin their game, though, Annessa started moving again, and in a second she was running past Kali.

The light, but sudden addition of weight surprised Gale. He knew instantly that it was snow and that it had been thrown at him. Spinning around, the Wanderer faced his "attacker". His legs bent as he lowered himself into a stalking position. The one who had flung the snow at him was none other than Blake, the white female of which he had raced against. For a few moments, he kept his one-of-a-kind green eyes upon the she-wolf before he leaped at her.

His bulk was more than enough to knock the female down into the lightly snow covered ground. The warrior ensured that he had been gentle enough not to cause her harm, but he could wrong about the situation. He may have hit her a bit too hard and the ground may not have cushioned her enough. Very carefully, he pulled his weight off of her and stepped to the side.

"That's what you get." He said quietly, shaking his coat. A small smile grew on his face. "Are you okay? I do hope that I didn't harm you."
