Giving Rise to the Winds Empty Giving Rise to the Winds

Post by Soran November 12th 2012, 12:23 am

Among the nettles of the Evergreen Forest, and beyond the distant, snow-capped Mountains lies the territory that will eventually belong to a future pack labeled as the Banishing Winds. The pack itself, has just formed, and with this new formation a new set of challenges will arise, but with these new challenges will come a new life for many...that desperately to simply start anew.

This stretch of territory consists of 3 main land marks, the main den, which is located in a clearing within the Evergreen Forest, which houses the pack from fall to spring. Then there is the Westward Creek, who's waters are swift and at times brutal and tragedy has been known to flow here. And finally, there is the Hunting Grounds, a wide grassy plain that is home to a large herd of elk, which is a good food source for any pack.

Location and Distance

The main den is nestled in a small patch of forest, hidden well from the naked eye, and in a tangle of branches and undergrowth, muffled from one's ear. The pack stays here from fall to spring, and it's the main source of socialization

The Westward Creek is located a short walk away from the main den, and supplies the pack with an ample supply of fish in the warm months. The water is cool to the touch, due to spring melting of the snow from the mountains, but has a tendency to overflow during heavy rainfall. During the Winter, the creek becomes encased in heavy, seemingly unbreakable ice. But always exert caution, for the surface of the ice can become cracked at the lightest touch, and one might find themselves suffocating in the icy depths.

DEREK

Take my Love, Take my Land, Take me where I can not stand,

      I don't care, I'm still free

Derek sat near the camp where the others of his family now went about their daily lives. Many things had changed over the past couple of months, the greatest of all having lost yet another alpha female. Pallatsera, had been taken too soon from the pack, swept away by the rushing current of the river. That had been six moons ago, and the pack was moving on. A new alpha female had yet to be announced, but these things took time. Derek had a pretty good idea of who would receive the title, but until Rune decided that he was ready for such an announcement, the loyal guardian would keep his muzzle shut.

Until then Derek reflected on life. He had accepted that Palla had died, and even that his unborn pups had been taken as well. Life did that, there was no point in dwelling on such things. Yes the pain was immeasurable, but he move on just as Palla would want, he would not dwell on the bad things but remember her in the light she would want. As the wise, soft spoken love of his life.

Now though the pack was preparing for winter. Life was moving on and from his view point Derek could see his friends rushing around. He smiled, at least he still had them, Karma, Dakota, Soran, and of course Rune, his longest friend. Deciding that the male had spent enough time to himself he hoped down from his vantage point and wandered into his family and friends searching for his leader and oldest friend.

"Rune?" He called out as he got closer to the male.

Dakota
It hadn't been too many days since the death of Pallatsera. Taken by the river, the pack's Dakota's Alpha Female had drowned with her pups . Oh how the river must have swelled with pride at such an accomplishment. To not only strike down one of the greatest wolves Dakota had come to know, but to seize her offspring as well? The bronze-colored wolf that sat idly under the umbrage of a tall oak could find no sorrow for the passing of their goddess, only hatred for the element that had stolen her. She waited, tail flicking with agitation, as everyone seemed to make their rounds for offering condolences. Derek, specifically, had been a hot commodity to offer up sorry looks and pain-stricken words. Even Dakota had apologized for his new wound that bore a hole deep in his heart. Her old friend was far too good to have such a wound, yet he would heal, as would the rest of Banishing Winds.

Golden eyes dormant as they watched the many wolves she had spent a majority of her life with, Dakota was quiet. Her mind was consumed with its normal thoughts, considering the dynamics of the pack and who would rise to take the place of Pallatsera. Although curious to an extent, the female would not be one to dwell on this idea for long. She had once sought the level of rank that rested beside Rune's power. Eyes drifting downwards to look at the scars that laced her legs, Dakota was reminded how that plan had failed. She had been reminded constantly with Palla's face, but with the she-wolf gone, her scars would be enough to fulfill the job.

Post by Rune November 21st 2012, 7:51 pm

In silence Rune sat, with his left side partially leaned up against the trunk of some ancient tree, his thoughts and words his own as he found his gaze slipping from one member to another. Sorrow had infiltrated their ranks a few months ago, but even still it was evident that it still lingered in those who had been closest to Pallatsera. Death is always a tragic and sorrowful event, no matter who it is or how it happened. Yet, still life continues and moves forward over the course time. Even, Derek appeared to be moving on from the painful memories and the loss. Lost in these thoughts, the Alpha Male didn’t even notice his dark colored friend approach until after he had called out his name.

“Rune?”

“Oh, um hello Derek.” Rune returned softly, his mind still trying to pull itself together and out of his thoughts.

Giving Rise to the Winds Empty Re: Giving Rise to the Winds

Post by Silver November 21st 2012, 8:54 pm

Silver was running, acting out some imaginative scenario in her young and untainted mind. Her paws and disproportionate legs were a disorganized mess. She was still figuring out the whole balance thing, finding her center, her movement.

It was strange, how some of her closest friends disappeared. Maybe that was why she was now on some sort of endeavor to go to the other members, ones she did not know as much, but wanted to. If anything, she just hoped they would all openly accept her wishes for a closer relationship to them all. It bugged her when people didn't want to be her friends. She did not yet grasp that concept.

Any hopes for making a nice entrance and not looking like a fool were abandoned as, in her haste and distraction, she barreled straight into a huge dark furry mass. Some poor brute had wandered into her path and she forgot to look where she was going. Colliding with a loud "Oof!", though she didn't move him much. Though she was virtually uharmed, what hurt most was the utter humiliation. Sitting up from beside this wolf, she found it to be Derek.

"I'm so so sorry Derek! I completely forgot to look where I was going. So sorry! Please don't be mad at me, I'm sorry!" Her still-puppy like eyes gleamed with pleading forgiveness, and embarrassment.

Giving Rise to the Winds Empty Re: Giving Rise to the Winds

Post by Soran November 21st 2012, 9:33 pm

Soran’s eyes rested quietly on the frothing surface of the Westward Creek. The water’s fingers grabbed at his paws, as though begging for yet another sacrifice to satisfy its hunger. His head hung low in private mourning as he pictured Pallatsera’s kind and gentle features. Though they had spoken little, Soran felt as though had known the Alpha for a lifetime. Why that lifetime could not have been longer would forever remain a mystery. During a brief period in which they had discussed the comings and goings of the pack, she had spoken with much respect towards the lowly hunter, and despite her admirable rank, Soran felt as though they were equals.

In the distance, footsteps sounded of the Elk herd just outside the Evergreen Forest. Their footfalls were not inviting, simply another reminder that food was to be collected soon. His friends where gone. Where, he was uncertain. Perhaps scattered around the territory simply lost in their own thoughts. New scents often drifted towards the direction of the creek, but none had past by it.

He had not left his vantage point beside the creek. For days he solemnly started at the surface of the pulling current with a complex expression in his eyes. He did not know what he was waiting for, perhaps for Palla to reappear beneath the surface, laughing as though it had been a sort of game. But she was gone, and Soran knew it; as did those who relied on him to attend to his rank duties.

Pulling himself up, the hunter prepared to begin his trek towards the Hunting Grounds before a familiar scent caught his attention. It was so similar to Pallatsera's that Soran nearly called out her name, but corrected himself quickly to make up for his mistake. "Elysia?"

Giving Rise to the Winds Empty Re: Giving Rise to the Winds

Post by Gale November 21st 2012, 9:34 pm

Gale sat alone, his green eyes holding no emotion. He had recently been accepted by the wolf known as Rune, who was the alpha male of the Banishing Winds. Unlike the others in the pack's ranks, the guardian had no ties, no friends. At the moment, everyone was offering their condolences to Derek, a guardian in rank like himself and the mate of the alpha female, Pallatsera. Again, unlike them the Wanderer said nothing nor did he truly care. The female was nothing to him, in life and now in death. She was just a name and a face. An unimportant name and only a pretty, but otherwise unspectacular face.

Nature seemed to agree with him. The day was fine and rather beautiful at that. No rain, barely a whisper of wind and the sky was free of cloud cover. Small prey animals scurried on as if nothing happened and the river that had destroyed Pallatsera's life gurgled on without a care. Gale lay himself down quietly and watched the members as they engaged in conversation with one another, while his eyes, like abysses, swallowed everything but gave away nothing.

He would meet his goal. No matter the cost.

Dakota
Everything seemed to be going relatively well as the pack continued on with their lives. Old faces, like that of Soran, Derek, and Silver, brought the slightest hint of a smile to the female's normally damp features. As Silver absentmindedly collided with Derek, the emotion blossomed on her features as the smile split her dark lips. It had been a long while since her last true smile, so Dakota's face felt slightly strange with the rising cheeks and exposed teeth. Thankfully, the smile didn't last long and the female returned to watching everyone else. That was when she began to notice new faces.

Another male, much bigger than many she had ever seen, was settled not too far across the clearing. He was bulky, just as Dakota was, but that didn't seem to phase the female in the slightest as she trotted over to him. His overall ominous aura had snagged the bronze-colored female's attention and now he would pay the price for it. Dakota was also not one to let names go unknown or keep her nose out of others business. She wished to know this new member, the one everyone referred to as 'The Wanderer'.

"
You're new here," the Huntress sat down beside him as she talked, "I get that." Dakota didn't look at him while she spoke, simply occupying her eyes with other things. "But I find it insulting when those around me don't offer up introductions," she continued to speak, tone rather bland, like when someone was just stating facts or bad news. "Therefore, you have been....gifted, with my decision to come to you. I am Dakota."

Karma
"Because I like being with you."
The air had not been the same with the pack since the alpha female had passed away ... well, drowned, but the dark female preferred to think in terms that didn't sound so ... vulgar. The territory had been rather calm recently - reason enough for there to be suspicion in the female's heart.

Glancing over the wolves that had gathered, the yellow eyes belonging to the dark female narrowed; there were still mourning spirits, but she had not known Pallatsera all that well, so there was little room for her to really be all that sorry. However, Derek, a guardian, Karma knew him, and the prior alphaess had been rather important to him; for that reason, she kept herself subdued. It wasn't much of a change, she just stopped herself from walking like she was doing her best to not make a noise. Karma shrugged to her thoughts that leaned toward the strangeness of her efforts, she hardly spoke to others, but if there was one thing that she would be certain of, it would be to make sure that this pack, her home, was safe from harm. All ready, she had seen three or four packs fall to various things: famine, greed, and illness - with how much seemed to happen when she went places, Karma had begun to suspect that there might be some kind of bad luck omen cursed upon her so that anyone that she might care about would suffer.

After all, Pallatsera's death had occurred not long after she had joined the wolves.

Looking over them, Karma came to realize just how rag-tag and odd the pack really was. She snorted to herself, laughing at the strikingly different occurances that had led each one of them to this moment. It was fascinating, and something that she spent a lot of time on, but for now, there were on her busy mind.

Like the enigma that was Gale. He did not talk much, or really even come near the others, and he seemed to always be focused on something, whatever that was. It seemed odd to her, and funnily enough, it was practically the same thing that she did, but there was a difference, she was certain! Karma felt like there was some kind of brooding vibe that came from the dark male - he was like, creepy, in a way. Sure, she had been through a lot, but her father had taught her to keep a stiff upper lip and to not let others know when something gets to you - because weakness could erode at the trust and foundation that the wolves worked so hard to make. "Well, I'll just have to keep an eye on him," she muttered to herself, averting her gaze so that he might not catch on; after all, making herself look suspicious would be detrimental to her own goals.

OF BEING AN EVIL OVERLORD. (not really)

Gale's attention shifted quickly as he caught the pawsteps of an approaching wolf. He let his green eyes flicker over to the stranger before they went back to the main bulk of the Banishing Winds pack. This was a female, with a bronze coloured coat and golden-orange eyes was a rather pretty creature known as Dakota. With observation skills as sharp as his, it was a common occurrence that he found out names and traits that most wolves wouldn't guess for him to have.

"You're new here, I get that. But I find it insulting when those around me don't offer up introductions, Therefore, you have been....gifted, with my decision to come to you. I am Dakota."

Dakota sat beside him as she started to speak. The dark presence that often occupied the Wanderer was quiet at this time; he could stand to look at her. He found it rather interesting that she didn't bother to glance his way as she spoke. Interesting indeed. For the most part, he congratulated her courage to actually come to speak with him when the others simply avoided him or did not acknowledge that he existed. The guardian preferred those, but to him, it seemed that Dakota was actually trying to engage in a bit of a mind game.

"I know who you are," Gale's response was quiet, like usual with a frosty air to it. The aura of far off places radiated off of him. "You're a scout of this pack and from what I've seen when I watched this pack, you're rather gifted at it. And a gift? I suppose it is, but will I gift you back with my identity? Interesting question, no?" He was playing with her, daring her to take the bait as he left her with a bit of a cliff hanger. He did not miss that the dark female known as Karma had been looking at him; he sent her his famous toxic smile before it faded and he cast his eyes to Dakota once more.

Karma
"Because I like being with you."
As her gaze surveyed over the area, the dark female did not miss the sly grin that had been sent her way by the enigma, Gale. The scout felt her pulse hasten in some mix of being terrified, indignant, and thrilled at the same time, but the only thing that that managed was frustrating her more.

Turning so that the strange wolf would no longer be in her sight (out of sight, out of mind), Karma tried to find one who stood alone, that way she might have her own friend to converse with. They all seemed to have someone; be they a friend or just a conversation buddy. Jealousy stirred within the asocial female, she was not particularly talented with conversation and typically avoided it when she could. But now, it seemed that she would have to work to sharpen those skills - being lonely was not something that she was particularly fond of. Sitting down, the scout yawned.

Maybe she would be able to just sit back and enjoy this day.

Dakota's eyes shifted sharply to the male settled beside her. His knowledge of her, which he seemed to hold no doubts of, caused a devilish smile to part her face. Her tail flicked sharply, as it often did before she pounced on mice or hares. Her teeth, with their scarlet tinging and vibrant white, remained exposed with another broad smile. Golden eyes running across the male before her, the beast spoke again. "Do get your facts straight before you say you know me. I am no Scout, but I do not doubt the abilities I have as a Huntress." She laughed at this, knowing full and well that this brute had made a fumble with his observations. Even so, Dakota knew that the animal did not need to make such conclusions. She would tell him anything he wished to know.

"
Oh, wanderer," she responded with a intrigued gleam in her eyes, "Even you must realize I'm not one to play games with. " Dakota was actually one to play games. She loved them. Competition made her blood pump with the lust to win and triumph. Yes, in her eyes, nothing was better than a good game. Besides, Dakota was not asking this male before her to cease with his trickery, but simply understand what he was getting into. It was her way of warning. Don't play a game that you can never win.

A lone figure padded across the earth. It was of wolfish shape, structure and had tawny pelt colours of oranges, creams, browns and ash. Though the species wasn't native to this area, the name that belonged to this wolf was Haytham. And he was of european descent. Born into a english zoo, he had been transferred to america, and escaped, before he was put on show there. He now had found himself in a land of unknown and had kept to himself for most of his years, though one occasion he did not. He had sired a single pup, to a sledding dog who was descended of wolf, and dog. As far as he knew the pup's name was Ratonhnhaké:ton.

Up ahead in the distance Haytham spotted another figure of a wolf, it had been a little while since he had interacted with anyone, since the deaths of his comrades. The wolf was blackish in colour, it was as much as he could tell for now. The brit padded closer, enough to be in plain sight of the female. He had no fear of her, or the packmates that accompanied her. He simply did not care for it. He looked the female up and down, gave a small devilish, but intoxicating grin, and a wink. Speaking in his strong accent he spoke directly to the dark female.
"Whats a pretty Little Lass like you doing out in this harsh climate?" His words were soft and manipulating, passing like cool water over pebbles, he gave a quick flick of his tail, ignoring the other wolves that were around the area, and focused deeply on the dark female, his bright green eyes staring into the female's golden ones.

"Ah, do excuse my fumble of words. There is another; Karma of whom I believe to be the scout. Though, I could be wrong. My ability to distinguish ranks has failed me more than once. However, I do not get personality nor my own games wrong." Gale gave voice to the continuation of his game. One that he nearly whole-heartily believed that he could win. Of course, he could see the ways he could lose. It was a tangle of words and a recent lack of speaking that could cause him to stumble into Dakota's awaiting jaws. He knew exactly where his destiny was; he didn't see himself falling for any traps she may lay.

His green-eyed gaze flashed to Karma again and he sent her a wink. Of course, she wouldn't have caught it, not while she was looking away from him. However, it was also for his game with Dakota. What she would make of his actions would be entirely up to her. There was a curiosity within him that wondered whether or not she would be able to even remotely guess at what he was doing exactly. If she could, she was a worthy adversary, one that he would continue to engage in a battle of intellect. If not, well, he wouldn't waste his time.

Karma
"Because I like being with you."
If Karma had thought that Gale was creepy before, all recollection of that was vaporized when a new wolf with a very different air to him presented himself to her. "Maybe you think it is harsh," she responded nonchalantly, "but it is the environment that I am used to." She was not impressed by the wink, nor the creepy way that his sly green eyes held her own for too long. This stranger was not like others - he was confident (too much for her liking) and had a "devil may care" attitude, while others tended to understand that they were under the will of the maybe terrifying wolves that inhabited the marked lands.

"Do you have any idea what kind of mess you could get yourself into by prancing about like you own the place?" the female chided; it was her motherly side. She cared for others, even when they bothered the daylights out of her, "So stand down outsider, or things could get ugly," she warned, standing up and returning a fierce gaze to the held look that he had yet to look away from. She was not one to fall for the wooing of males. Not after what had happened before. They just turned dark on you and could not be trusted further than they could be thrown.

Squaring her shoulders, Karma prepared for what the male might do next. His kind were unpredictable, and she had never really seen one with his kind of markings. Her knowledge of others was slim; after all, she had grown up in a secluded pack by the ocean. Things happened there, and the things she faced were more terrifying than any male ever could be. However, the dark female resented the idea of resorting to violence. It was petty, and she was not even the leader of this place.

DEREK

Take my Love, Take my Land, Take me where I can not stand,

      I don't care, I'm still free

Derek was about to ask his question when he felt something that felt like a rabbit hitting his side. His head went down, down down. To the now almost full grown Silver. Derek's lips parted in a smile as the small female (well small to him) stumbled over her apology.

"No harm was Silv, what were you running from though, may I ask?" It was evident that the large guardian was more amused over the situation, than upset.

"Ah, do excuse my fumble of words. There is another; Karma of whom I believe to be the scout. Though, I could be wrong. My ability to distinguish ranks has failed me more than once. However, I do not get personality nor my own games wrong."

"All's forgiven," Dakota murmured in reply, knowing fully well that it was no real apology, so it did not need legitimate forgiveness. This brute had no desire for her forgiveness, similar to her lack of interest in requiring a name for the animal. If he proved to be interesting enough, she might just ask for it later, but then again, Dakota had little time for such things. Animals to hunt, sun to bathe in, and things to get mad over, yes, the female was always quite busy.

Eyes drifting from one interesting thing to the next, Dakota only barely caught yet another signal that the brute sent towards Karma. Maybe they knew each other. The bronze female was not one to completely follow the social broadcasts of the pack, but something told her that Karma had never truly encountered the male beside her. Dakota flicked her tail again. "
That's the second time you've made advances to grab Karma's attention," she spoke easily, "Don't let me keep you here, wanderer. I'm rather poor company, especially when I get grumpy. "

"I was not so much running from something, as to running to something... I wanted to come and make more friends. Ya know? Due to recent..." Her brow furrowed slightly, "Disappearances" The frown lasted but moments before she turned about and gleamed slightly in relief. "I'm just really glad you're not mad at me; many wolves just don't take a liking to youngsters." She noted with a light chuckle.

"So.. How are you, and stuff?" Naive and un-updated, Silver wasn't exactly up to date on recent news; Such as Palla's death. All that showed was the hope that he was well at the moment, though her gaze slightly wandered to Rune nearby. She wanted to be his friend too.

"Maybe you think it is harsh,"
"but it is the environment that I am used to."
"Do you have any idea what kind of mess you could get yourself into by prancing about like you own the place?"
"So stand down outsider, or things could get ugly,"

Haytham couldn't help but grin, he had pushed the female's buttons lightly. He gave a huff, and a shrug, to the female saying the mess he could end up in. "Oh my dear, any mess around here is going to be caused by me. Stand down? Pah! Never in a million years my dear" His words even though war bearing, still had an air about them, as if he floated above the rest, noble but sly as a fox.

He turned, and flicked his tail, allowing it to tickle under the dark female's chin as he turned away from her, looking at the other occupants of the area.
"Hmmm..." he murmured as his green eyes cast over the others, looking over each wolf carefully studying their abilities and strengths and weaknesses. There seemed to be a couple of males who were on the bigger side that could outgun Haytham. He sat, giving a small sigh, still not a care that he was interrupting a pack.

Giving Rise to the Winds Empty Re: Giving Rise to the Winds

"All's forgiven, That's the second time you've made advances to grab Karma's attention, Don't let me keep you here, wanderer. I'm rather poor company, especially when I get grumpy. "

"Grumpy, you say? You seem to be in perfect control of your emotions and from what I can see, I haven't yet exhausted your reserves of patience." Gale spoke quietly, his attention now fully upon Dakota. "Though, I have no wishes to do such a thing for, as you mentioned beforehand, I am new here and I do wish to keep my quiet reputation here intact." Again, she did not look at him and that piqued his curiosity. "One question, Dakota: Why do you not gaze at the one you are speaking to? I can't say I've ever encountered someone who did not at least glance at their partner in conversation."

Something caught his attention before he could offer her what she initially sought. A small sound, one of a twig snapping. It came from the far side of Dakota and when silence only followed it, the Wanderer growled quietly. His multi-hued coat bristled as he stood and instantly put himself between the huntress and whatever else was in the forest. It was all one fluid motion that exhibited a great amount of grace, especially for a male of Gale's size and heavier weight. Whatever was in the forest quickly turned tail and fled, but not before the Wanderer caught sight of the animal's tell tale white-tail. It had been a deer but rather than show embarrassment at his actions, he simply let himself relax and lay down--closer to the forest now--and pretend as though it never happened.

"You are better company that you believe yourself to be." He was a bit quieter now, but as to why was a mystery.

Dakota

"Grumpy, you say? You seem to be in perfect control of your emotions and from what I can see, I haven't yet exhausted your reserves of patience. Though, I have no wishes to do such a thing for, as you mentioned beforehand, I am new here and I do wish to keep my quiet reputation here intact."

The female listened, ears twitching as they absorbed the male's reply. He didn't seem to understand for a moment, causing disappointment to rise in Dakota's chest. She had high expectations for such a brute, for he excelled physically, but whether or not mentally was to be learned. Gradually, however, he seemed to adapt. Acknowledging Dakota's control seemed to be a grand step, but he knew little of to what extent this control reached. It would take only something small to set her off, but much to gain back the kind of control she was exhibiting now. "The reason I am so calm now is because our game is rather boring," she replied, more dullness in her voice offering up her image as truly bleak company, "It's wise to keep it that way, therefore, I praise you for valuing your reputation just enough to allow me to keep calm."

"One question, Dakota: Why do you not gaze at the one you are speaking to? I can't say I've ever encountered someone who did not at least glance at their partner in conversation."

This sparked something deep within Dakota, causing the light to flash in her eyes for a moment. It was the same giddiness that had shown earlier, when the male had fumbled with his conclusion of her rank. His question had made things interesting again. Even if it was bait, the female fully intended to answer. "I only look at those who are worth acknowledging. Those without names do not qualify for such attention."

It was Gale's sudden actions that caused Dakota to jump slightly. Being keen to prey and sensitive to their presence, the female had realized their company long ago. The deer had not frightened her, not like the suddenly graceful move the wanderer made to place himself between it and her. She was about to say something, but figured his sensitivity to his surroundings and surprising agility told her enough. Games and fighting are all you must know, eh, wanderer? What an odd combination. She simply shook her head as he stated yet another wrong conclusion.

"You are better company that you believe yourself to be."

Karma
"Because I like being with you."
This wolf, he threw the dark female curve balls that she was not prepared for. He looked over the wolves that gathered and seemed to become forlorn, but something was not right about it, almost like he was hiding some kind of malcontent.

Stepping into the male's line of view, the dark female took a slightly more offensive stance. "I do not thing you understand," she grunted, "You're terribly outnumbered and I assure you that such behavior would not be approved of coming from a stranger - like yourself." Karma's eyes had a shine to them that had been absent. She was glad this male had come, odd as it may have seemed. He might be the answer they needed to get out of the sorrowful rut that many had been in. Maybe he could drive them out of it. Probably the only thing he'd be good for she thought, giving him a side glance.

Karma did not miss the sudden movement from the otherwise still pair of Gale and Dakota. The dark male moved surprisingly gracefully for one with such muscle. Shaking her head, Karma looked over the rest of them, making sure to linger on others, so that it might not seem that she was drawn more by a stranger than the familiar. "What is your name?" she asked of the stranger, gaze turning to study the multicolored fellow.
She said for the first time

"You would not be giving me such a praise if you knew of my intentions here, nor would you be exhibiting this temporary calm." Gale replied without missing a beat. Why not allow her a peek at what he truly was? It couldn't hurt after all, especially since he said it so casually that for all she knew, it was simply a joke. Or maybe he was serious. If he was lucky, those words would manage to implant themselves into her mind and make her think more than twice about him and everything he said. Whether she knew it or not, he was beginning to use his normal double sided words; there was more than what was so obvious on the surface. "I know of your legendary temper, Dakota. You're like me in the sense that we both get angered rather easily and that it takes a lot of time for the anger to fade." He flourished his tail as he gracefully sat upright and made sure to meet her golden eyes with his icy-hot green ones. "With that, I end our little game. Maybe we can have a rematch at another time, assuming the desire for a challenge is still there. If you wish though, we can continue to talk, minus those mind games."

The Wanderer lay down again began to watch the pack, but he stopped and looked at the object of his interests again. "And I am known as the Western Wind. Or the Wanderer as you have discovered. However, you may call me Gale." With that, he gave her a brief smile that lacked any sense of warmth or companionship before he continued on his observations of everyone else while awaiting to see her decision as to what she would do next.

Dakota

"You would not be giving me such a praise if you knew of my intentions here, nor would you be exhibiting this temporary calm."

These words, what did this male intend to mean by them? The words caused Dakota's fur to bristle. Everybody was entailed to their own intentions, sure, as any wolf who came to the pack would have some kind of goal in mind. But when it came to the well-being of the group that had molded Dakota into a beast of fire and rage, well, she would feel nothing but protective. They were all hers. Rune, Derek, Silver, Karma, Soran, and the rest of the misfit bunch, they all belonged to Dakota. Hers to hate, hers to love, and hers to guard. Mine. Not yours. Mine. Don't touch them. Mine. Keep away. The thoughts surged forward with her hostility, realizing that whatever the beast intended to do, it was unwelcome. Even so, she believed he would expect her to beat around the bush, trying to weasel her way to finding out the plots buried in the male's mind. This was why simply stated, "I need to know your intentions."

"I know of your legendary temper, Dakota. You're like me in the sense that we both get angered rather easily and that it takes a lot of time for the anger to fade. With that, I end our little game. Maybe we can have a rematch at another time, assuming the desire for a challenge is still there. If you wish though, we can continue to talk, minus those mind games."

Whether he knew it or not, Dakota's 'legendary temper' was far closer to being shown than it had been in quite some while. Doused by the sorrows of Pallatsera's death, the female had found little to no reasons for her rage. It had been quite relaxing actually, but figured it was bound to end eventually. Perhaps this would be the day her streak would end. Even when he claimed to stop the mind games, he would most likely continue. Particularly his comment about his intentions still had Dakota reeling. "Better to ask forgiveness than permission," she replied, attempting to justify her temper, "I would believe someone who claimed to have a temper similar to my own would understand that."

"And I am known as the Western Wind. Or the Wanderer as you have discovered. However, you may call me Gale."

So she had learned his name. Actually, more than his name, if you tallied the things that had been observed or concluded. Yes, Dakota figured that she was quite familiar with the topic of Gale, or at least, knew enough for her own liking. He was big, but not enough to encumber the brute's agility. He liked mind games, but failed to finish them. He had intentions, but claimed to care for his reputation. Whatever this being beside her was, Dakota had decided she didn't like playing with him. Besides, it was poor manners to play with food.

Giving Rise to the Winds Empty Re: Giving Rise to the Winds

"I need to know your intentions."

"Oh, I bet you do. Unfortunately, my little play thing, you won't discover them today." Gale knew exactly what he was doing and he was sure that it was working. Despite his earlier claim that he wanted to keep a quiet reputation among the Banishing Winds wolves, he really wanted to get the she-wolf beside him fired up. After all, it was never his style to just stay quiet and only observe. He always needed to cause some sort of stir with someone. Fate had given him Dakota.

"Better to ask forgiveness than permission, I would believe someone who claimed to have a temper similar to my own would understand that."

"Of course I can understand that. However, I cannot think of a time that I have ever asked for a sincere forgiveness either." He mused over that for a moment before he drew himself to his paws gracefully. With light steps that whispered over the earth, he detached himself from the huntress and headed in a new direction.

For now, his toleration of the pack was at its limit even though he had only interacted with one member. The beast roared and felt pleasure at its awakening. The darkness that was slightly evident earlier was now blazing like an inferno. The only anger that was felt from the beast was that he did not attempt to rip apart the wolf who had been in such close proximity to him. It would have been something satisfying. Something familiar.

Something that brought forth blood.
