The Winter Den Empty Re: The Winter Den

Post by Gale July 20th 2011, 9:58 pm

Gale waited for a response from Elysia, his temper still fuming. The sudden indignation in her beautiful brown eyes caused his anger to recede. Most of the time, he did not care if he made someone upset but when it was the beast who had done so, he felt hatred towards himself. The fact that he couldn't control his darker side just made his irascibility flare again with a new vigor. This time, he put the flames out mentally before he burst. He was known for his vicious, almost untamable anger but he couldn't let it show yet.

When Elysia hear his apology, she seemed to have a glad look in her eyes before it faded and was replaced with something a little more familiar. There seemed to be a challenge in her eyes to see who would break first. A smirk played on her features and from his perspective, it was almost teasing. He knew from experience that there were many different varieties of each emotion and each expression. His own smile was toxic, something that had an immediate effect on everyone who saw it. His smirk, it was dangerous. It showed that he was angry and that he was going to get revenge. Her words caught him off guard though.

"Not a loner."

He was so close to snapping back when he noticed that she was heading towards a cedar. Angrily, he lashed his mult-coloured tail as he watched her walk. She seemed to possess a natural grace that reminded him of a swan taking flight. His mind was not helping with this chaotic situation, it wanted him to go apologize for just letting his temper go. The monster had a different idea: destroy her very being. No, he would not risk it. Not now.

"Please forgive me, I need to atone for what I've done and there are just too many of you for comfort right now. I do not like feeling inferior." The part about the numbers were a lie. He did not care about how many wolves surrounded him because he was used to it. Dangerous under currents were evident now.

Without any more words, Gale made his departure. His gait was almost completely confident but he made sure that there appeared to be some tentative steps in between. Again, he made sure each pace was careful and the weight was equally placed on all paws. He reached Elysia's side before a minute elasped. His tail stretched out behind him as he sat down on his haunches. Never had he apologized more than once for something but this would be the first and only time he did so.

"Elysia," her name felt strange on his tongue. "I really am sorry for that."

"Show yourself, i dont want to fight you...."

Soske walked forward a little. Knowing that the wolf did not want to fight was a big relief. Soske was a small wolf so she could not handle a fight anyway. Soske walked forward a little more. Soske walked forward enough to be seen by this wolf. He was a good looking wolf and Soske wanted to talk and so she showed herself. Her ocean blue eyes were darker than usual because she was frighted. Soske causally greeted him with a bow of the head. She than processed to say Hello, welcome to the Banishing Winds territory.

Knife dipped his head in respect to this beautiful she wolf. His golden eyes looked into her dark blue eyes. He lowered his tail slowly. He lowered his head showing even more respect "I did not mean to introde in your terriorty.... I was just passing through" His brightened eyes began to be less bright. He sighed "I will leave.... if you wish" He lowered his tail so that is was layed down the normal length. He swishes his tail up to cover his shoulder scar... the last she wolf he seen ran off after seeing all his scars. He did not want to spoke this one off as well. He knew his chances were small to have a mate that loves him for him and not his looks. He thought looks are just looks, its in the inside that matters. He lowered his gaze down to his paws slowly.

The Winter Den Empty Re: The Winter Den

Elysia had settled down quite comfortably beneath her cedar tree. She rested her head on her paws, allowing her eyes to flutter closed. Her ears were still perked, swivelled towards the group surrounding Maiara and Gale. True she had withdrawn herself from the situation, but that didnt mean she wasn't interested. In her view, she had found it best if she didnt interfere with Gale's acceptance. Their banter had already interrupted Maiara's process which was in itself quite rude. Elysia had decided the best decision would be to remove herself. She had no want to overstep boundaries with Maiara. Elysia didnt respect Maiara because she had to, not because she was an alpha, not even because of her age. Elysia respected Maiara because Maiara deserved her respect. Maiara was like a role model to Elysia. By withdrawing herself, she hoped to have done what Maiara would have done in a similar situation.

"Please forgive me, I need to atone for what I've done and there are just too many of you for comfort right now. I do not like feeling inferior."

Elysia was intrigued, but still did not open her eyes. She wondered just who Gale needed to apologize too. Perhaps it was a clever excuse to escape the pack. Elysia hoped not, he provided a good deal of entertainment. She wondered how Maiara would react. A moment later she heard soft pawsteps, but did not open her eyes. She knew it wasn't Taru. She would know her best friend's tread anywhere. These steps were different, heavy and controlled - but forced at the same time. They seemed to come quickly, though with resistance. The crunching of snow stopped and only then did Elysia bother to breathe in as she lifted her head and opened her eyes. She was shocked into silence as Gale stood before her. Elysia had expected a number of things to happen. Gale could stay silent and be accepted by Maiara. He could throw a snapping biting comment back at her. He could glare angrily. But not once had Elysia ever considered this. Gale, he had just left Maiara. What did he think he was doing?

"Elysia, I really am sorry for that."

Elysia wasnt sure how to reply. She hadn't expected this, how could she have? She looked behind him to Maiara and the group he had just abandoned. She swallowed nervously. This was the reason she had removed herself. She wouldnt want Maiara getting a wrong impression. Elysia had no business muddling in the affairs of loners seeking acceptance. She looked between Gale and Maiara. She had to say something. She brought herself to a sitting position, neatly wrapping her bracken and cream tail around her tiny paws. He towered over her. He was unusually massive, and she was abnormally petite. A very stark contrast between the two. Elysia swallowed again, glancing once at Maiara and praying the alpha female could hear and understand her words. She looked back to Gale. Her gaze was appreciative, intrigued and slightly amused. "You abandoned our alpha female, in the middle of a conversation, to apologize to me?" She couldnt stop her lips from folding into the smallest of half amused/half teasingly guarded smiles. "Well think no more, I had already forgiven you." She shook out her pelt slightly, dislodging snowflakes as she did so. She looked him evenly in the eye. "If I were you, Gale" She added his name in, finding the taste on her tongue to be...strangely intriguing like the rest of him. "I would return to Maiara. I would hate to see you leave so soon."

"You abandoned our alpha female, in the middle of a conversation, to apologize to me? Well think no more, I had already forgiven you. If I were you, Gale I would return to Maiara. I would hate to see you leave so soon."

Gale rolled one shoulder in a shrugging gesture. It was not important if he was accepted now or not. Either way, he would not leave this territory until he had done what he came to do. A faint ghost of his famous toxic smile made an apperance on his features. The white tip of his tail twitched due to the surpressed anger that still had not faded completely. New barriers had been raised in his mind to withstand the force of his other, crueller, darker, and less predictable side. It still growled but did not quite seek the release that it had a few minutes ago. Had only a few minutes passed since his internal attack? It appeared so.

"She's a good, calm, and understanding leader." He replied after he realized that she probably didn't understand his body language. Not many did. "I'm sure that she won't have too much of a problem. I'd rather speak to her alone then with a large group gawking at me all at one time. Maybe another time, just not now."

The snow crunched underneath his out stretched tail as he put pressure on it. His chest moved in a slow, rhythmic pattern as he breathed in and out calmly and his piercing stare flickered between Elysia and the group he had just left. So far, no one had said anything about his leaving and not one wolf had their eyes following him. An audience never really bothered him because he had become so accustomed to everyone's eyes following his fluid movements. They respected him. Hated him. Loved him. And feared him.

[Maybe if Maiara is on tonight and accepts Gale, maybe Elysia can come across him while he has one of those docile moments?]

The Winter Den Empty Re: The Winter Den

Altair chucked at Taru's expression of utter joy. She seemed really happy that he had lay down so she could pin him to the snow covered ground. He wagged his tail and smiled at her.

"Now you get to brag that you are the first and last to ever pin the great Altair down." He said with a serious voice though his eyes showed that he was laughing. "Not even Kira can say she's done that."

As he spoke her name, Altair looked to where Kira had been sitting a little while before. She was no longer there and his pale amber eyes grew troubled. Slowly, he moved his head until he caught sight of her. She was sitting with Maiara, Silver, Falco, Elysia and Mahina. A new brute was with them and seemed to be asking Maiara if he could join. When Elysia moved to a distance away to a cedar tree, the other male followed her.

"Do you know who that is?" He asked Taru before he could stop himself. How could Taru know? She had been with him the entire time.

"Now you get to brag that you are the first and last to ever pin the great Altair down." He said with a serious voice though his eyes showed that he was laughing. "Not even Kira can say she's done that."

Taru had been enjoying herself greatly, sitting upon the great beast that was Altair. Her tail moved wildly, wagging from the sheer enjoyment of winning. Yes, she had won, at least in her eyes. The female listened to his words with a wide smile. At least she could brag later that she did have something over others, the great male had fallen to the tiny female. Her ebony coat rustled slightly as a chilly breeze wafted up several scents. They hit Taru's nose with a gentle feeling, as though they realized they were carrying something new. Her pale yellow eyes shifted, looking around as she began to trace the new scent. A brute, one not the size of Altair, but of plentiful muscle. She could tell he was different, solemn and detached. It reminded her of the female that had passed through a week or so ago, Dakota. The female had attacked, then left as suddenly as she had come. This male gave her the same feeling, as though he may attack at any moment. When she realized he was talking to Elysia, a frightful shiver ran down her spine. Taru almost stood up from her friend's chest, finding that she wanted to go and make sure Ely was alright. However, she stopped, knowing that her best friend could handle herself. Instead, the ebony female sat down.

"Do you know who that is?"

Her ear's flattened, she worried for Altair sometimes. "You big dork, I've been with you the whole time. How would I know?" she teased, nipping him playfully on the nose before jumping off of him. The female grinned, gesturing with a dip of her head that he could get up now. Taru then sat down, beginning to groom her chest fur. Even though Altair didn't need to be impressed anymore, the female still felt she should look her best. Without taking too much time to groom herself, the female then looked at Altair. He was looking towards Kira, who was conversing with others. Taru couldn't stop the flash of pain from sparking in her pale yellow eyes.

The Winter Den Empty Re: The Winter Den

Elysia just couldnt figure Gale out. It was like he took every idea she had, every opinion and unwritten code that she lived by - and did the opposite. She would never have dared to leave Maiara while entreating the powerful alphess for acceptance. But Gale, well Gale just walked right on away. He excused himself and was gone. It was so wrong, so unheard of. Yet Gale stood and shrugged as if it was nothing. Elysia, plain and simple, didnt understand. He didnt seem in any hurry to be formally accepted. If it had been Elysia - when it had been Elysia - all she could think of was acceptance. She was afraid to move or to speak, lest she earn disfavor. The only one she had trusted was Derek. But now Derek was gone. All he had left Elysia with was a story, but it was a story she treasured and knew she would treasure. She missed the dark male, though they had only known each other for a short time.

"She's a good, calm, and understanding leader. I'm sure that she won't have too much of a problem. I'd rather speak to her alone then with a large group gawking at me all at one time. Maybe another time, just not now."

How could he just make that decision? What Elysia heard was Gale saying that he didnt feel like being accepted at that moment. He was just doing as he pleased. Elysia looked to him, wondering what she should do. She looked past him to Maiara, but she had given her no sign. Elysia delved within herself, wondering what Pallatsera would have done in her situation. The answer came, but it wasnt what Elysia had been looking for. Pallatsera would have done everything right. But Elysia, she wasn't Pallatsera. She wasnt tranquil and in control. She wasn't an alphess or a mother or a mate. She was just...the other sister. She was the one that couldnt quite measure up. And here came her moment of truth and she was failing. She looked to Gale, her eyes still guarded. She was reminded of her earlier analogy of him.

She knew now, she was the salmon. "I wouldn't got too far if I was you." Her words were almost halfhearted. She was the salmon. She was caught in his strong paws, pierced by his claws as he bent his head to sink his fangs into her. She struggled, but she knew she wouldn't escape. What was even more frightening was the realization that was dawning on her. The more she struggld, the more she realized she didnt actually want to escape. She was drawn to Gale, for better or for worse. He was her mystery, her enigma and her riddle. She needed to understand him, to understand him like she understood Kira and Altair, Taru and Mahin. She knew them, knew their personalities and their reactions. She could pin them down because they were themselves plain and clear. But Gale, she just couldnt get a paw hold on him.

She raised her head, she felt so tiny compared to him. So small and breakable. She peered at him for a moment, speaking frankly before she thought to stop herself. "You followed to apologize, but why did you stay?" Gale didnt seem like the type that needed company, but here he was at her side. Why hadnt he left once his purpose was finished? Elysia didnt understand. She felt her neck begin to prickle and glanced around. Her gaze fell on Altair and Taru, just as Altair's glance shifted to Kira. She watched Taru's eyes flash pain and felt a wave of pity for her friend - though she knew Taru would never want Elysia's pity. Elysia wanted to call Taru over, to have some sort of back up. But at the same time, she didnt want to share Gale with anyone, not just yet. The thought filled her with guilt.

(Seeing as Insomnia has left us :(, Akera will be continuing hunting on her own XD)

Looking into the clearing, Akera spied the small doe limping towards the back of the herd. She started letting the hunter in her take over. Closing her eyes, she let her nose do the work. Smelling the poor injured doe in the back, she creeped around the edge of the clearing, trying to get closer to her prey. The female crouched into position, emerald eyes trained on the target. She counted down in her head. [i]'Three, two, one.'[/b] And then she pounced.

The Winter Den Empty Re: The Winter Den

Post by Gale July 21st 2011, 3:58 am

Gale simply sat there when he realized that Elysia was studying him again. No anger burned in his body so he knew it wasn't her who had caused him to snap. That was a relief though he wished to find what had created such a reaction from him. Then again, it really wasn't important enough for him to waste time pondering over. Besides, if he wanted to find out, he'd have to go back to the group and speak with each wolf. Such an idea created a wave of disgust in him. He didn't need anyone to know him, and he didn't need to know anyone. Personal ties only led to chaos and heartbreak. He would not make such a mistake.

She seemed incredulous of his choice to abandon the alpha female despite his words. It appeared that she was the type to stay while he wasn't. Her brown eyes showed that she was confused by all of his decisions that he had made during his time there. Her gaze travelled from him to Maiara and back again. Why would it be such a hard thing to comprehend? Maybe it was the fact he never spoke what was truly on his mind or that his words never seemed truly sincere and held a double meaning. Did she catch onto this? He had a feeling that she had, judging by the way she looked at him.

"I wouldn't got too far if I was you."

No answer came from him. It wasn't a worry of his. If he left, he left. If Maiara had a problem with his 'fear' of being around so many others, then he would seek acceptance elsewhere. Even if he weren't allowed to join the ranks of the pack, he would find a way to remain there, no matter what he had to do. His body language was relaxed but still held the dangerous and dark aura. It wasn't an aura he chose, it seemed more that it had chosen him. Not that he minded anymore. Now, it felt absolutely natural. As if he'd always been this way.

His eyes darkened to a pine green. The past always made a point of appearing in his mind when he thought of how he used to be. Back when he had no worries in the world. Back when he had parents who loved him. Back when he had a family and a home to call his own. Gale always hated having those memories in his brain. They never did anything more than anger him. The past was nothing more than a faded memory. It was the broken pieces of his life. Pieces that could never be rebuilt or replaced.

"You followed to apologize, but why did you stay?"

"I stay because I choose to." He answered without skipping a beat.

The words the male spoke were the truth but there was a dark under current that said she shouldn't ask anymore or even dwell on it. Elysia had been looking at him but her eyes strayed elsewhere. A flash of pity and guilt shone in her beautiful browns so he followed her gaze to the source. A dark female was with the ginger and white male from earlier. He glanced at Elysia and took in her expressions and the way she held herself before he turned back to the two who seemed to be playing in the snow. The ginger and white brute seemed to have his attention on the black she-wolf from earlier with the blue eyes that shone like ice.

"Either she loved him, or still does but he picked that fae over there as his mate or soon-to-be." It wasn't a question. He formed it as a statement. Elysia was just that easy to read.

He created that look many times during his stays with different packs. But his situations were different. He never fell in love with another, rather he just jumped from one female to the next. If they were foolish enough to believe that he would stay, they were taught the lesson to be careful. The ginger male apparently did not mean to hurt her but he had. There was no doubt in Gale's mind that the giant male felt guilt and pain for harming her. Did Elysia have feelings for him before as well? Did his guide? The other seemed to be popular with the females due to his size and the fact he allowed the tiny fae pin him in the snow.

The gentle giant and the whipping wind. Polar opposites.

The Winter Den Empty Re: The Winter Den

Post by Guest July 21st 2011, 11:54 am

The long pauses, the silences that seemed to stretch forever, they were beginning to get to Elysia. Everytime she thought she might finally catch him, lure him into revealing something, he escaped just as easily as if no trap had been set. He just looked at her, with those green eyes that made her feel like her blood was slowly freezing as it flowed through her veins. She felt like every small movement was under scrutiny. Being a wolf, body language meant a lot. She knew that every movement she made had a meaning. But this was different. This wasnt communication. This was observation, detailed and precise in a way that made her pelt prickle. She wondered what he was thinking, his mind was elusive - that much had already become clear.

What was he finding in her? What did the flick of her tail and the twitch of her ears mean to him? She wasnt sure why she cared, but had a burning desire to know just what he was thinking. There was something he knew that she didnt. She felt almost inferior in a way, as if he was judging her. He wasnt just watching her, he was judging her. She didnt know what she was being judged upon, but in a way she felt like she was failing. He was giving her a test, a test that meant eveyrthing and nothing at the same time. And she was almost certain she was failing pathetically. She didnt want to be a failure in his eyes, she already saw herself that way. She couldnt help thinking that had Pallatsera been in her position, she wouldn't have failed Gale's intangible tests.

Elysia watched his eyes darken to a deep pine green. It was eery, adding to his mystery. His aura of intensity was maintained as if it was nothing at all. He hadn't made any kind of reply to her comment about remaing close. Somehow, she hadnt expected one. If it had been Taru or Altair, there would have been conversation. It would have been easy, like breathing, so natural. With Gale, it was like every word was a struggle. She had to say just the right thing in just the right way. Then again, she wasn't sure what the consequences were of saying the wrong thing. He would what, leave? Would she mind that?

She didnt want to answer her own question.

"I stay because I choose to."

Elysia nearly rolled her eyes, or she would have if it was anyone but Gale. But she didnt. Her eyes narrowed ever so slightly, but not with anger. Almost with expectance. His answer, well it was very Gale-ish. She had suspected he would say something like that. Gale was quickly identifying himself as the type that did what he wished simply because he wished to do it. She wondered how that would go over with the alphas. She doubted it would end well. She found herself hoping that they would be lenient. He would leave when he chose to as well. So why was Elysia bothering to get involved? She wasnt exactly involved yet, but she was dangerously close to passing the stage of intrigue with Gale and that wouldnt be a good plan.

"Either she loved him, or still does but he picked that fae over there as his mate or soon-to-be."

Elysia's eyes widened with surprise. She had looked briefly away from Gale and back to Taru. She snapped her face back to him, quite startled by his words. He hadnt even asked, he had simply stated something as if he knew it to be true. Elysia looked in silence between Taru, Altair and Gale. She knew it was true, but it was no business of Gale's. Elysia watched Altair and Taru with affection. Taru was her closest friend, more of a sister than anything else. And Altair..well Elysia had never loved him romantically - but there had been times that she imagined she could have come to love him. He was a loveable guy, as evidence by the many females he attracted. Elysia smiled a small sad smile. "Many of us loved him, and still do." She wasn't denying or affirming Gale's statement, nor revealing her own feelings on the matter. Her words hinted that she may have loved him, but did not affirm.

"I know. I just thought that the all knowing Roo could tell me." Altair said as he rolled onto his stomach and forced himself to a standing position.

His pale gaze when to the dark male. Something about him reminded Altair of a cougar watching a baby deer. The way he held himself showed that he was confident with himself. Altair did not like the feeling his got from simply watching the other brute.

"I don't like the feel of him." He murmured. "But as long as he doesn't attack Ely, I don't have too much of a problem. I'm surprised you haven't been called over by her yet."

Taru ignored both comments, turning her head to look at Altair. She watched him for a moment, curious of why he did not go to protect Kira. "Shouldn't you be other there ensuring that Kira is safe?" she asked, flicking her tail. If he was worried for Elysia, why not his mate? The female was almost positive that he was just being polite to Taru herself, by staying instead of letting his instincts get the best of him and go stand near Kira. This made her feel guilty. She wanted never to come between Kira and Altair, it was not what friends did. Taru frowned, sitting down to think heavily, debating on going to sit with Elysia or stay here and think herself up a whole bunch of problems.

"I'm watching her too. But she's in no immediate trouble right now, not like Elysia." Altair replied as his gaze flickered over to his mate. A warm smile fell onto his face easily. "If she were, you could count on me being right beside her."

He looked over at Taru and flicked her flank with his tail. Taru was frowning and he wondered why for a moment. She probably wanted to go to Ely but since her friend had not called her over, she was hesitant to do so.

"You could always go over there." He said casually. "Just go and make her smile. I don't like seeing her so thoughtful. It's not Ely." He laughed.

The female shook her head lightly as the male walked off, dismissing the conversation with none other than that it had grown too crowded. Why would this male assume he could do whatever he pleased? It certainly was not in his best interest. Her gaze drifted to Maiara, curious as to what her reaction would be. She resisted the urge to laugh, a slight smile twitched at her muzzle before she sufficed in masking it well. She believed the male would be in for a rude awakening, but whether Maiara acted upon it would be her decision as alpha. She shifted weight upon her paws as she felt the cool snow crunching beneath them, growing slightly distracted as she waited.

The Winter Den Empty Re: The Winter Den

Post by Silver July 21st 2011, 1:43 pm

Silver looked up, her gaze wandering and settling on the male whom was speaking with Elysia. Her fur ruffled slightly, he gave off the same discomforting waves of emotion similar to Bayne. Her ears pinned, and her eyes narrowed slightly. However, curiosity overtook her, and she rose to her paws and stepped through the deep snow over to the two. She felt like introducing herself, and also getting in on the conversation as well.

"Greetings. " She said in a brief pause of their speech. Then, she continued, her eyes flicking to Elysia before settling back on the male. "I am Silver Moonlight, Master Scholar. May I ask whom you are? I am rather curious. " She said, settling next to Elysia in the snow. She sat, too weary of the male to lay down. She wasn't cure of him yet, once he proved he was not like Bayne she would be more comfortable.

The Winter Den Empty Re: The Winter Den

Post by Gale July 21st 2011, 2:34 pm

The fact that Elysia's gaze widened with surprise told Gale that he was correct. She was startled by what he said as if it was the last thing she expected to here from him. It probably shocked her that he said it in the form of a statement as if knew it were true, which he had. Even though he was further away from the dark female and the ginger male, he recognized the glance of pain that flashed in her eyes. Such an emotion only happened when they still harboured feelings for the one they could and would never have. He had seen it many times when he broke one she-wolf's heart and went to the next who would still have him.

"Many of us loved him, and still do."

Elysia's words were in his ears but he did not pay much attention to them. His focus was on the way her body moved when she spoke. Usually, someone would say something and it would turn out that they were lying. Either their eyes or even the slightest twitch of a muscle informed Gale of their true meaning. A sad smile was on her muzzle but it had too many possiblities. The silence before the speech told him everything. It told him that she was reluctant to answer his question but since she had, she did not want to be viewed as rude and that she was drawn to him so she almost felt like she needed to answer him. It told him that she thought that this was none of his buisness.

The smirk played on his features but it never made a true appearance since Gale's ears swivelled in the direction of crunching snow. Yet another was approaching but the scent was slightly familiar. The one who had joined the duo was the white and grey female with the pale green eyes. She seemed wary of him which he knew that she should. By the way she held herself, he had the feeling that he reminded her of someone from her past. Obviously the wolf she remembered did not go well with her memories.

"Greetings. I am Silver Moonlight, Master Scholar. May I ask whom you are? I am rather curious. "

"I am Gale." He replied with ease.

This male held himself almost regally and kept his head high in the cool winter's air. He wondered what Elysia would think about their new company since she seemed to only want him for herself at the moment. He figured that out since she had looked like she wanted to call out for the dark fae who had been with the ginger male but she also did not. Was she that entranced that she did not want to share? Though maybe she only wanted to study him, find out what made him tick. He almost snorted at the thought. There was no way she would ever find out.

I'm onto you, Elysia.

The Winter Den Empty Re: The Winter Den

Elysia turned her head, hearing more approaching pawsteps. Inwardly, she sagged with both releif and dissapointment as Silver approached. She was glad to finally have some form of backup against Gale, but at the same time she felt their conversation wouldn't quite be the same. She looked between Gale and Silver, her lips stretching into a smile as Silver approached and introduced herself. Elysia had always found Silver to be quite beautiful. The female had gorgeous pale snowy white fur with lighter gray highlights. Her eyes were gentle green. She had the kind of beauty and grace Elysia always envied and admired in others. It was no wonder that Falco had fallen in love with her, she was quite worthy of love.

"Greetings. I am Silver Moonlight, Master Scholar. May I ask whom you are? I am rather curious. "

And Silver spoke with such eloquence! Her words were so perfect, so formal as if rehearsed though sounding natural. She had a quiet confidence that reminded Elysia of her sister. They even slightly resembled each other in appearance, though not strongly. Elysia stayed silent as Silver introduced herself. Silver had been in the pack much longer than Elysia had and ranked higher, but she also had more natural control. Elysia peeked at Gale from the corners of her eyes. She was sure she would be forgotten. Here was Silver, beautiful and collected. And Gale didnt know Silver and Falco were paired, he might just go for her. It would be the sensible thing and Elysia wouldnt have been surprised.

"I am Gale."

He spoke with such ease and held himself with a subtly regal stature. Elysia wondered what she had been doing, sitting here and speaking with him. She was no alpha. She was no beauty like Silver. She didnt even have anything to say really. Whenever he looked away, she had the urge to slink out of his presence - to escape. Then he would look back at her, locking her in place with that intense gaze. But now his gaze was on Silver, his attention diverted. She had removed herself once from his presence, she could do so again. He would be far better taken care of in Silver's presence than with Elysia. Elysia stood, shaking fur from her bracken and cream coat. She grinned broadly at Silver, her jaws parting in a massive yawn. Her voice was light. "I beleive I've been selfishly keeping Gale for too long." She chuckled, though she couldnt quite make it sincere. "Time for sharing, I'll see you both later perhaps." She flashed another smile at Silver. She would never want Silver thinking Elysia left because Silver joined. Not at all! Elysia adored Silver's company, but she needed some space away from Gale.

Elysia padded as nonchalantly as she could over to Taru. Elysia was sure that Taru would be the one to help her clear her mind and sort herself out. Taru was Eysia's best friend, her sister, her partner in crime. Elysia approached Taru, sitting beside her friend. She buried her face in Taru's fur, muttering so Taru could hear. "What have I gotten myself into?"

The Winter Den Empty Re: The Winter Den

"I'm watching her too. But she's in no immediate trouble right now, not like Elysia." Altair replied as his gaze flickered over to his mate. A warm smile fell onto his face easily. "If she were, you could count on me being right beside her."

No matter how hard Taru tried, the words still felt like a low blow. The grimace that played across her face only showed her distaste in the situation she had made for herself. Her pale yellow eyes moved to look at Elysia and this new male. They had both looked in her & Altair's direction, probably beginning to discuss their relationship. Taru hated it. To think of her own scenario was enough pain, but for others to be analyzing it as well? It was enough to make the tiny female dizzy. Elysia was her friend, her best friend, so she knew that eventually, she would come to think about Taru and Altair. As for the stranger, he knew nothing, absolutely nothing, yet he seemed to know exactly what was going on. By the way Elysia reacted to the words Taru couldn't hear, she knew that he had guessed and labeled her correctly. She was the friend, that's all she would ever be to Altair. A good friend that he could relieve some stress with by messing around. This caused her to look at the large ginger and white brute. Taru needed distance, needed to pull away from him. It was an unhealthy relationship, at least for the female. She was stressed with the idea of loving him, but him choosing another. The thought that she would always be his friend was too much. Pulling out of her thoughts that had suddenly become evident in her mind, Taru realized she was breathing oddly, off her normal rhythm.

"You could always go over there." He said casually. "Just go and make her smile. I don't like seeing her so thoughtful. It's not Ely." He laughed.

When he spoke, it only worsened the feeling the lay deep in Taru's stomach. The female knew something that Altair would hate. He would think bad of her, truly bad of her. She had put on a mask to say that everything was alright, but it was crumbling from her face as she tried to continue her small act. Nothing she said would be taken seriously if she couldn't hide the true emotions behind a mask. Casting a distressed glance at Elysia, she wondered if her friend would allow her to come over there. Taru had no interest in meeting Gale, but needed an escape from Altair. A permanent escape. She would have to abandon Altair completely, at least until she could handle him and his decision. The female nodded lightly in good-bye to the ginger brute without looking towards him. That was when she felt Elysia press against her. A new wave of panic washed over the ebony female, making her skin hot. Elysia was supposed to be her escape, so that she could keep it together long enough to get away from Altair. Instead, she was pressed against her side.

"What have I gotten myself into?"

Her friends words threatened to pull Taru from her shocked state, but failed by a few tugs. Whatever it is, Elysia, its not nearly as bad as what I'm in right now, Taru thought, staring blankly at Altair. No, she wasn't staring at Altair, but more of past him, through him. It was all she could think of to do. No words escaped her muzzle as she was frozen in a sense of cornered pain. She was stuck, as a friend. The ebony female was everyone's friend, she had no enemies. This was starting to become her pain.

Elysia, you just put me right between a rock and a hard place... Silver thought, imagining herself clawing at her head for being an idiot. Curiosity killed the cat...? No, incorrect, because right now it seemed that curiosity was killing the canine. She turned, her mask of emotion sweeping off her face like a curtain as she looked desperately to Elysia walking off.

Bravery. Be brave, not a wimp. You were the pup that ran through a forest fire and unknowingly grabbed your sister. Don't be a fool now! Look back... She seemed to coach herself, turning back to stare emotionless at the male. A slight amount of unsureness still left in her eyes, however. She suddenly felt uncomfortable, as if her sitting position was restricting her breathing.

"Nice to meet you. Are you a new pack member?" Silver asked Gale, her voice even.

Altair could see that Taru's mask was beginning to fade and many emotions were flickering across her face. His heart clenched to see her like this. He had broken another vow that he had made. He wasn't sure what to say until Elysia sat down next to Taru. Altair would give Taru the escape she needed.

"I'll leave you two alone." He said, trying to hide his own pain but failing miserably.

The brute stood and dipped his head to the two faes before he walked to where the small group was. He had yet to be accepted into the pack so maybe this would be his chance. Though he would wait for Maiara to finish with the other brute. His fur brushed Kira's as he settled down beside his mate.

"Who is he?" Altair asked, glancing over his shoulder at Gale.

The Winter Den Empty Re: The Winter Den

Whisper padded through the thick pine tree forest. She came to a hault as the scent of a pack filled her nose. She began to think: I hope this is a nice pack not like the one i already ran into. She sighs softly to herself and raises her head and howls in a high tone. Letting the pack know who she is and where she is at may make them friendlier to her she thought. She waited jsut outside the pine tree forest for a figure to appear.

Mahina looked around. To Maiara, Elysia, Silver, and to Gale. She could tell Silver shared her thoughts, this male, Gale, reminded her of Bayne, it was no doubt that already they were acting too much alike. Her ears pinned back as she studied Gale while Silver talked to him. Would this wolf cause more havoc for the three friends like last time, so long, not so long ago? Mahina turned her head away, muttering under her breath. "Break Elysia's heart and you'll wish you had never been born." She would not let Gale get to her friends, and she meant it.
